If you were an NFL GM/owner, would you sign Kaepernick?

2016 stats: 59.2% completion 2,241 yards 16TDs 4 Int in 11 starts. 90.7 QBR. 468 yards rushing with 2 TDs and 3 fumbles lost. That's a real solid stat line; better than a lot of current starting QBs and damn sure better than almost any back up in the NFL could hope to produce. I would sign him. Several players on other NFL teams followed him kneeling and no one is protesting their presence on an NFL team. Who's protesting Malcolm Jenkins? Duane Brown? Kenny Stills? Robert Quinn? Jurrell Casey? Mike Evans? Brandon Marshall? Nobody. How many fans are going to not show up cause any of these players are on their teams? Hardly any. Yet, they all did the same action Colin Kaepernick did to incite such hate. So, I would sign him. If none of these players are a threat to team chemistry and PR, than Kap shouldn't be either. The fallout would be extremely minimal; it's not logical to assume hundreds or thousands of fans aren't going to show up because the man started a protest. The media would try to hype it up but If tens of thousands of people will still come to watch convicted domestic abusers. I'm sure tens of thousands will still come to watch Kaepernick.

I think it also depends on options as well. No team with an established QB will want to pay that price. Baltimore is making things look REAL bad by signing Canadian football QB's over him though.

Last year when all of his stuff was going on, no. At this point I think all of the outrage is overblown.

If I had a need for him yeah I'd sign him. Some people would be upset for a day and then they'd move on to the next thing to be outraged about.

It's not that Kaep is a bottom tier player.

It's that he's a C- player who's trying to get paid like a B+ player while bringing A++ distractions with him.

That's not a good formula.

I wouldn't sign him. Although his stat line is pretty good, he's a major distraction and that affects the whole team, not just the owners.

But you're right about this part

Who's protesting Malcolm Jenkins? Duane Brown? Kenny Stills? Robert Quinn? Jurrell Casey? Mike Evans? Brandon Marshall? Nobody

Honestly I think the media has made it more difficult for Kap to find a job with the constant drumbeat about him. DeMarco Murray was doing an interview about the Titans n PFT Live this morning and was asked 2 separate questions about kap. It's almost comical at this point.

No, too much of a distraction for the team.

Nothing brings people together better than sports or music. I wish entertainers/athletes could just do that part in helping to bring people together and stop causing division. Just my 2 cents worth.

Not really, where they make it look bad is making it public that they may sign him, but really have no interest.

The difference is Kap was the face of that movement. I could've told you that other players did the same thing as Kap but I couldn't give you the names and I follow the NFL. Everybody knows Kap did it though even if you don't follow sports.

Depends. He reportedly wants too much money. If he wants around starter money, then no. If my team is awful (Jets,Browns,Rams) then, no. He isnt worth the direction and money to be terrible anyway. If I have a friend guy and Kap comes down on his price then maybe.

If I did though I'd tell him the bullshite has to stop. He can protest all he wants, but that stunt his girfriend pulled last night calling the Ravens owner racist cannot happen. But it will so I'd cut him.

Why does Kaepernick even want to play anymore? Oh, yeah, the opportunity to make millions of dollars to play a game is far more compelling than being devout to your morals, at least that's what it seems. I don't believe the question should be whether or not the NFL needs Colin Kaepernick, but whether or not Colin Kaepernick needs the NFL.

We've never had a legit confirmation of what he's asking for.

His teammates in SF spoke very highly of him.

It would be a "distraction" for about 1 day then no one would care after that, especially if he's a backup.

There is absolutely no way to justify signing him based on his talent. He's not going to win you a division let alone a superbowl.

And because you risk pissing off maybe half your fan base, it would be a really poor business decision.

Say he is the same caliber player of Cam Newton, of course you sign him, because the ceiling of where your season can go is very high.
