If he would have said, "I'm done" rather than, "hand me the steroids."

3 MVP's, 8 All-Star games, 8 Gold Gloves, 411 HR, 445 Stolen Bases, .290 BA

Would he be in the Hall?

If so, why not vacate every season, 1999 and after, and then elect him on merit?

Yes, easily.

There are people already in with lesser accolades.

Of course. Bonds, along with Clemens were HOFers before steroids.

I've wondered the same thing including Clemens, but not sure where Clemens started using. I'm guess when he left Boston.

To me that's the best solution. I think vacating the records needs to happen too.

It's an irrelevant point. The (misguided) idea behind keeping Bonds and Clemens out of the HOF has nothing to do with the idea that they wouldn't have been good enough without roids, it's to punish them for being cheaters and defiling the integrity of the game. The (hypocritical) logic behind keeping them out is the view that their actions--not their lack of "clean" baseball resumes--make them unworthy of the HOF.

Yet there are admitted cheaters already in the HOF. The whole thing's a shite show.

What kind of question is this? Bonds was named best player of the decade for the '90s by Sporting News Magazine. He is one of only nine players to win three MVPs. He is the first and only player to ever hit 400 home runs and steal 400 bases for his career. Bonds was easily a top 20 player of all-time and the best player of his generation before any of the steroid shenanigans.

Yes.

It does not work that way.

That being said, Barry Bonds will be the best baseball player I will ever see in my entire life. I want to put him in the Hall.

Steroids or not, Bonds is still one of the greatest hitters of all time and to think a talent like that actually went to college.

Gaylord Perry says hi from Cooperstown!

Seriously, you hit the nail on the head. It also points out the fast that another guy who was absolutely clean isn't in....2 time MVP Dale Murphy.

So does Hank Aaron and every other player from back then. They took amphetamines like candy
