I am actually really excited to see the dynamics of both of these teams with new additions and growing players.

Anytime you can see the future GOAT is a good time

Eta: Realized this may look like it's about Kobe but it is most assuredly not

I'm waiting to see how LaMarcus fits in the Spurs offense.

I think Russell is a good get for LA but he won't be much help this year.

I still hope my man-crush gets traded to the Spurs also, but it's not a reality.

This is why the people who don't like the NBA product don't like the NBA product. You have all kinds of dynamic teams and storylines all over the league. There is actually a sort of paradigm shift where it is being proven that good teams and players in markets besides New York/Chicago/Los Angeles/Boston/Miami can actually be good for the league and the league is thriving. And yet the Lakers are STILL going to be nationally televised 53 times this year.

Explain. Why is it the Lakers' birthright to be on national television for half the season? Everybody knows this team will be bad and dysfunctional, and somewhere between 6-11 AT BEST in the West even with Kobe Bryant.

because the lakers get ratings
if nobody watched then they wouldn't be on tv
it isn't that hard to understand

That's a fricking copout.

Are the Lakers on TV all the time because they get high ratings, or do they get high ratings because they're on TV all the time? The audience has been conditioned for three decades to believe that the Lakers are special and belong on TV all the time because LOOK AT JACK NICHOLSON! IT'S SHOWTIME! Showtime is done and Jack is old and caricature of his former self. It's time to give someone else a chance to be on television 3 times a week. They're the 5th best professional sports team in Los Angeles, and that's just because they don't have an NFL team right now.
