No what is bullshite is when a team plays a ROAD playoff game at their HOME stadium..... and it still counts as travel....

okay... when it's a quirk like for example jesuit playing st. aug last weekend at gormley, that's the luck of the draw. it happens

if west monroe pays $15k to move a road game to North LA and it still counts as a "road game", yeah it is BS

one time a decade ago shaw and EJ played a 5A first rounder at Yenni for some reason... Shaw won but i don't remember how it applied for the next few rounds in the bracket

Is strictly by seed or are there other factors?

seeding determines home field advantage for the first playoff game.

the team who travels the furthest, AND WINS, is the team that will host the next round(s)if both teams have traveled in the previous week.

if only one team traveled in the previous week, and won, then they will host the next week.

however, if both teams have hosted the previous
week, then it goes by seeding again.

Parkway is the #2 seed and has to travel 4-5 hours FOUR TIMES to make it to the Dome.

Something tell me you were one of those guys who were for the select non-select split

and what about Neville - they will have to go to NOLA twice in a row..... if they win... and they are 1 seed....

just think if there was no split, there might be another Parkway-Byrd game in the playoffs, big $$$$ and little travel for both schools (unless it's in the Dome)...

It's a stupid rule.
No it isn't. Going to school is more important than playing football, so there can't be a situation where one school's team misses class four weeks in a row.

they must have been counted as the home team for bracket purposes though... if they weren't, i could see teams give up their home first (or even second) round game voluntarily against schools they'd easily beat to gain an advantage for future rounds

if it was that big an issue, every long road trip would result in a Saturday game...

Precisely my point. Home field isn't so big an issue to the LHSAA and its members that they feel the need to play all their games on Saturday. So it's no big deal.

WOW @ the bad information in this thread. Its higher seed then who traveled the MOST (not last or furthest). If the # of times traveled is equal then better seed is home. Pretty simple.

the rule of thumb should be if the travel causes you to miss more than one period of class, the game should be on a non-school day...

didn't work that way - though. they were in fact home team - I think either way it worked for next round they were in Nola.. not sure but.. yenni was only 15 minutes from their campus..

I don't think it would take much effort to come up with a better system.

Assuming a 32-team bracket, I'd like to see the higher seed be the home team for the first two rounds, regardless of travel.

In the quarters, the higher seed should still be the home team UNLESS the opponent has traveled in each of the first two weeks.

In the semifinals, I'd like to see some of the state schools put to use. They are done with football by the first week in December anyways. You've got suitable stadiums in Ruston, Monroe, Natchitoches, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Hammond, Houma, and New Orleans. Pick the one closest to you and playball. If more than one high school wants to use a facility, make it a weekend event. I think it would be pretty cool to go to ULM and catch two or three high school semifinal games in a weekend.

Finally, the state championships can stay in the Superdome, but I'd also entertain the Cajundome in Lafayette as an alternative. It is certainly more centrally located and not nearly as big, so the championship games wouldn't have that cavernous feel that they do in the Dome.

you mean cajun field...

that year they beat Ruston on the west bank in round 2, and then went to Shreveport and barely lost to the eventual state champs Evangel 33-31

if they had been visitor against EJ though and then beat Evangel, they would have been home for a Megaphone semifinal, whereas if they had been home for EJ and beat Evangel, Rummel would have hosted the semifinal
