You would know better than me. Haven’t watched on a regular basis since the 2016-2017 season.

A 90 year old man told me basketball was like horse racing. They half arse play for 3.5 quarters and then race if the game is close at that point, like getting a race horse ready for the event. The older I get, the more that comes to mind.

More defense
More rivalries
Stop flopping and touch fouls

Let them play defense….

Flopping a $25k fine

Right now it’s 80% jacking 3’s. It sucks

Had Rockets season tickets for years. Really enjoyed the NBA. Once it got political I said no thank you. Don't think I have watched a game in 4+ years.

Not interested in anything they ever do. Won't get me back. Rockets call us every so often ask us what they can do to get us back. They offer us complimentary floor seats from time to time but I tell them no thanks. Not going back.

Next stadium funding vote they have in Houston for any professional sports team will be a resounding no vote. They can all go frick themselves.

Need more players like KYRIE. His game winner just now was incredible.

The amount of touch fouls and free throws swaying a game is tough to watch. I like the sport but it can often time be painful to watch with all of the touch fouls

I guess Ian just old school. I watched in the 80's and 90's. Just can't enjoy a game. The players now get paid so much and if they have a slight injury, they sit out for awhile. Bird left a game with a back injury. Went too the locker room, got a shot, then went off on who ever he was playing. Piss Jordan off and he goes 60 on you.

I just don't see the same competitive fire now then back in the day. Hated the bad boys from Detroit but they made it fun as hell to watch.

Big issue is, you need personal rivalries. You need personal hate and drama among star players.

I forgot who pointed it out, but with all these guys running through the AAU circuit together and likely spending only 1 year in college, there's no drama. Everyone is friendly with one another.

We need more open shite talking in sports media and social media.

shorten the season. Only 5 game playoff series. Enforce the rules. Get rid of 3 point shot

Go away from the modern SISSY RULES, allow defense to be played again, allow the 80s rules to return intact. Lets get bloody in the house. I might watch then.

Bingo. Even with some really stupid rules basketball is such a great spectator sport when the game actually gets into a nice flow. The problem is that never fricking happens because the offensive player can initiate contact and be rewarded for it the vast majority of the time.

No beef between players/teams is a good one too. That's not strictly basketball, though. The buddy-buddy attitude of players has been chipping away at the competitiveness of multiple sports lately. Just makes it less compelling as a spectator in general.

It sounds like you grew up and your interests changed. It happens to everyone.

Possibly, but so did the NBA.

Exactly. Back in the 80’s and 90’s there was a certain respect but also a lot of serious rivals. The players back then weren’t super buddies like they are today. You see opposing players hugging and cutting up before games. It’s way different. Sure, there is competition but it’s not as fierce as it was.

I can agree with this. Steph is a great player, and I admit it was really fun to watch GS when they were a novelty. But I really think he changed the game for the worse.

Teams realized it's more efficient if they focus primarily on 3-pointers. Most every guy on the roster is now expected to be able to shoot 3s now. At least half if not more of teams field goal attempts are all coming from 3.

I can respect the skill level it takes for teams to shoot at that level, but it has really made the game less entertaining as a whole. But idk if there's a way to go back to what the game was. It's too late for that now.

You have encapsulated my thoughts perfectly.

Also, the NBA is such a player driven league and always has been. I was a huge Kobe fan growing up but I don’t really care about the lakers. So many people follow players and not the team. After Kobe retired I lost a lot of interest and didn’t watch as much. I watched during the warriors run and a little bit after but it was not entertaining at all so i stopped watching. And it’s not the politic stuff for I mean I still watch the hell out of the NFL but NBA and basketball in general just doesn’t do it for anymore.

Now, I say that and I’ve watched the hell out of CBB this year because State has had a good team. I bet if I grew up in an NBA city I’d feel differently
