Should make dunks 1 point and get rid of the 3 points line, and then we'll have REAL basketball back.

I haven’t watched an NBA game since 1893.

What is it that you dislike about the NBA today, exactly? What rules changes would make you find it more enjoyable?

I'm only asking because I suspect you may be speaking from a nostalgia point of view. I think for a lot of people, they really enjoyed basketball in the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc because that's what they grew up with. When you're a kid watching Kareem, Larry, Magic, Jordan, Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, etc. It's easy to view those guys as superheroes. They're doing things you can only dream of doing. That's how many kids fall in love with basketball. They want to be just like their idols

But as you get older, you eventually grow older than most players in the NBA. It'll just feel weird to have somebody 15 years younger than you be your superhero. Thus, in order to remain a fan, you have to find a different connection to the game of basketball. Idk if this refers to you, but just a thought that is relevant for many.

I think as we get older we can't help but notice that basketball is a flawed sport. It's just not as fun to watch once you realize the patterns and the flow of the game, etc.

Football never gets old to me but basketball is just ugh.

Nail on the head. The average viewer doesn't notice anything unique about an individual game of basketball compared to another and can't tell the difference between a street ball team and one that uses a strategy.

Fouls in basketball are even more frustrating to watch, even more than the NFL which is quite an accomplishment.

Intentional Fouls at the end of a game with free throws is one of the dumbest objects in the history of professional sports and it has been allowed to live on.

Same here. There is no mid-range game anymore. It's all 3 point shooting, and it makes the game boring IMO.

I can agree with this. Steph is a great player, and I admit it was really fun to watch GS when they were a novelty. But I really think he changed the game for the worse.

Teams realized it's more efficient if they focus primarily on 3-pointers. Most every guy on the roster is now expected to be able to shoot 3s now. At least half if not more of teams field goal attempts are all coming from 3.

I can respect the skill level it takes for teams to shoot at that level, but it has really made the game less entertaining as a whole. But idk if there's a way to go back to what the game was. It's too late for that now.

I still enjoy the game play, the politics not so much.

There will always be nostalgia but you have to understand times change and players come and go and I understand that. For me it’s just a different game with everybody including the big men all wanting to shoot 3s. I wish there was less fouls called and more balance with offense and defense. With the rules right now, the offense will always have the upper hand. I miss the matchups down in the post and I know this generation probably don’t want to see that. All star games are a joke, it always was but not to this level. Wish more superstars didn’t slam dunk contest. I wish there was more rivalry games with some chippiness to it.

I only have interest because of the Pelicans and former LSU players in the league

That's just the nostalgia talking.

Making the NBA like 1990s basketball would kill ratings, it would be terrible for the sport.

Magic and Isaiah literally would kiss each other on court before tipoff.

All the best dudes were friends and liked each other.

This is just you. The NBA is as enjoyable as it’s ever been. I have my personal issues with officiating and whatnot, but its popularity is still very high.

As a non-basketball guy, the calls that stars get that other, regular dudes don't is insane.

What the rule is is irrelevant, players hand check now, and it's not called.

I will watch some highlights on SportsCenter to see what is going on but I know a lot of people that feel the same way. Hell, college basketball used to be great and I barely watch it now unless it’s LSU and March Madness. All the good players leave after one year and I have to keep learning the new players every year.

It's always been that way. MJ had a higher YPC average than Barry Sanders.

Shorten the season.

I have pretty much stopped watching the NBA except for playoff time. I only care to watch the pels and since I have hulu I don't get Ballys. I'll check and look and see if the pels won or lost, but thats about it. I've diverted to watching NHL since its on espn+

Cannot stand the stupid in season tournament or the ridiculous court changes. The players outside of a select few, seem to just go through the motions until the last week or so of the season, when they are fighting for seeding.
Game has become way less physical and now you have players sitting out on back to backs. Just shorten the regular season and things become more competitive
