You realize that LSU had already signed the USA Today (or Gatorade) National Player of the Year in Josh Booty? You do realize that LSU had Curley Hallman as their head coach when Peyton graduated high school? Peyton made the right choice to not attend LSU.

I'm not rooting for Peyton Manning for three reasons:

1) I almost always root for the NFC in the Super Bowl

2) Peyton Manning went to Tennessee

3) His public personality is as fake as it gets

If there were more players in the NFL like Sherman, I would watch more than one or two games a year.

Link? I recall one time in his career that he "threw he lineman under a bus". They were getting abused for several weeks in a row, Peyton had zero time to throw the ball, then after one of the games near week 17 he was asked about it and he said, "it is what it is." His lineman were so distruaght over that berating by Peyton that they went on to win the Super Bowl about a month later.

I can understand someone rooting for or against the Broncos because of Manning or Elway, but I don't get the butthurt on either side. I don't care what happens in this game because the Saints aren't in it. Probably watch the end to see who wins and that's all.

Honestly the only thing that makes me want to root for the Seahawks is the butthurt Saints fans on this board.

Maybe because people who are truly "neutral" don't GAS either way?

Because I want to pick the winner and that's going to be Seattle.

....hope Manning shows better sportsmanship if he loses this time

The five worst acts of bad sportsmanship by a losing player in history: Fan’s take

quote:

As a New Orleans Saints fan, I cannot adequately express the joy I felt when the Saints won Super Bowl XLIV. Unfortunately, the losing QB was New Orleans native Peyton Manning. After the game, QB Drew Brees was frantically looking for Manning to shake his hand. But in a classic case of bad sportsmanship, Peyton Manning left the field without congratulating Brees and the Saints. Peyton's bad sportsmanship marred an otherwise memorable night

Peyton is the prime example of how an athlete should carry himself on and off the field. He's the epitome of class in the NFL. He's a role model and just an all around great guy. I have always wished him the best unless he's playing against the Saints obviously.

Most NFL players act the right way, whatever that is, and are classy.
Why does anyone have to particularly root for this guy?
What special stuff has he done, say, to help others, for which one should have a special rooting interest in him?
PS - walking off of the field and not shaking hands after the Super Bowl wasn't all that classy.

Today's Baton Rouge Daily Report poll asks readers who they are voting for. As of now, 8% chose the Seahawks, 71% chose the Broncos, and the rest don't care. At least we know what the business leaders of the city think.

Holy smokes there are still morons who believe this. This crap has been debunked 4 years ago. Peyton looked for Brees right after the game, and saw that Brees was celebrating with coaches and teammates, so he chose to head to the locker room and he congratulated him a day later. This was always a non story for people with a brain

I asked the same thing in this thread yesterday, still waiting on a response.

You have every right to your opinion on what motivated Manning’s behavior....you chose to believe his “next day” explanation. I’m sure his PR folks made sure that “explanation” was rolled out quickly.

I formed my opinion by his actions which were captured on network television. Manning was not a “gracious loser” that day.

It's a team game compadre. No one doubts how great the Pats have been over the last 13 years, but Brady didn't do it alone. It's always been a team game. Mark Sanchez has been to the AFC Championship twice for Christs sake. It takes a lot to get there and by a lot I mean more than the arm and brain of the QB.

Excellent post.

If the Broncos' D can't stop Seattle, how is it Manning's fault.
