Carey just couldn't get any traction.

West Coast - and no high profile games.

He never rushed for less than 119 yards all season...and holds now a shite ton of Arizona records.

That dude deserved to be a finalist.

I see your point. And no, I don't think he is one of the best in college football...

Actually, I might change my opinion. I originally stated that I was OK with him getting an invite if Alabama got to play in the National Championship Game again this year, but since they are not...eh, I do not care either way.

IMO, and I am sure everyone agrees, he was only considered because he "won" games... And so did Greg McElroy and John Parker Wilson under Nick Saban. And so will Alabama's quarterback of next year.

Well, you obviously have not seen him play then. The dude has been a boss all season long and has also been on an absolute tear for a while now. Check out his stats.

LINK

And no, he should not win, the award should go to Jameis Winston.

he does his job extremely well. it's just that the job saban gives him isn't to put up gaudy numbers. it's to be smart, don't turn the ball over, and feed off your running game.

Do you honestly think so?

Although I would love to see it, I just cannot fathom the thought... I feel like one of Jacob Coker, Alec Morris, Luke Del-Rio, Blake Sims, Cooper Bateman, etc... will be able to pick up some slack and at least manage the game.

I don't get why people say Tre Mason shouldn't be there. He has better numbers than Ingram when he won it.

He did much more than GMac and JPW. Much better leader than either of them.

He got voted into the top 6 of the Heisman. They invited him. That's that. He wont win, and everyone knows that. Not sure when getting invited to the Heisman has been such a prestigious "award".

To say he is nothing more than another GMac and JPW is just wrong.

I mean I'm not being a dick and "mad" because Alabama's quarterback got an invite. I just think he got the invite because he's Alabama's quarterback.

Like I said, the award is supposed to be based on his play on the field in 2013. I would say Alabama likely wouldn't have got to 11-1 without his experience. But the guy doesn't do anything flashy or put up big numbers. He does what he's supposed to do within Alabama's offense but you just don't look at AJ McCarron's numbers and think to yourself "Wow...this guy had a special season".

Lets ask ourselves, Michigan State is sitting at 12-1, a conference champion. If their quarterback Connor Cook posted the same numbers as AJ (he's only 6 touchdowns and 200 yards behind), would he get an invite? I think we all know the answer is no.

McCarron should absolutely be praised for what the team he lead was able to accomplish but he's not worthy of consideration for the highest individual honor in college football.
