Not sure if the suspension is why he's starting or he earned the job outright but it will be fun to watch this one vs. Harris for sure.

Harris would be beating him out at lsu too. Best of luck to the young man.

Miles never gave him a fair chance.

You know it's coming

Players that don't want to compete and leave after one year are normally ones that are not going to have success in the SEC. I wish him well but he's starting because the other guy missed curfew.

Rettig's failure here was his own doing.

Now maybe he's gotten his crap together and is taking his job more seriously....or he just barely edged a guy out to start for a shitty team.

If he lights it up, it's another quarterback that was being held back by Miles. If he stinks it up, it's another quarterback that Miles failed to evaluate... there's always a narrative.

Totally different offense in a cheap arse conference. You can not compare the two.

I would hope a QB LSU recruiting could at least light up Norfolk State

Same thing with Gunner Kiel in Cincy.

Generally I agree, although Gunner Kiel seems to have found much success.

Not in the SEC though. Or a power conference, for that matter. Rettig at least will have the opportunity to prove himself in a major conference. Not that I ever got why people pay any mind to Kiel. He never made it to campus by his own choice.

People pay mind to Kiel because of what it would have meant to the team last year... imagine 2014 with his QB production at Cincy

233/390 3254 yards 31 TD 13 INTs 149.4 QBR

He wouldn't have thrown the ball near as much here with Fournette & Co., but he could have easily gone for 2500 yards and 20 TDs... which would have been good enough to beat Alabama and Notre Dame, at minimum.
