Stanford

I find it hilarious that David Shaw angrily scoffed at the LSU job when asked about it, then proceeded to pile drive the Stanford program into the ground. Thank the lord.

Southern Miss has a better athletic department, at the time, then a number of schools that got upgraded to the AAC. However, that football downfall, along with some bad admin hires, absolutely destroyed them for a minute.

Add in, Hattiesburg is a small town with no media numbers, not a huge fan base, and somewhat hard to get to.

The media market part had a bigger part to do with it than anything. CUSA and AAC took on some shitty football programs just because they are located at or near major markets. USM has/ had a much better football program than most of the current AAC schools

This is what happens to all G5’s for most part…glimpses is success, flashes in the pan. Good Upcoming coaches leave, players transfer

It's only getting worse for G5's with the transfer portal/ NIL clusterfrick

How about that one time Tulane went 12-0 in 1998, then made one bad hire that took 25 years to overcome?

Which hire are we talking about? Rick Dickson or Chris Scelfo?
