songofthesword Harden Traded to the Rockets lol they not did not lose anytihng, they got a very good scorer in martin who is a better defender than Harden will ever dream of being, and they got a young good prosepct in lamb who looks good so far. damn the rockets are stupid.

Ok so you don't watch basketball. NBA second rounders are USELESS. Who cares about giving up a mid first rounder and likely a non lottery first.

My question is- What makes Harden think he is worth a max deal?

Because some team would give it to him in free agency.

Martin rental, Lamb and the picks are too much for Harden imo.

what if lamb isn't that good? OKC didn't get shite for a budding superstar

Not much flexibility now and no way is this roster good enough.

i'm not a big lin fan, but if he can run the pick and roll like he did in new york, they should be ok in teh backcourt

they have the 3rd best defensive big man in the NBA

they have a ton of young 4s (montejunas, jones, white) and parsons at the 3

they're going to have another lottery pick after this year likely and need to get a 3 and they'll have a solid group

The Thunder are definitely worse in the short-term until we see who the draft picks are.

Thunder get the Raptors pick which will be 4th-14th, and the Mavs pick which is top 20 protected.

I think it's a pretty fair deal for both sides as long as Harden is the player he was last regular season and not the Finals.

Martin can score, but the rule changes last year really hurt his efficiency.

it had nothing to do with any rules and everything to do with a different offensive system. martin needs to control the ball, and the point does that in the rockets's system. now he can do that on the 2nd team

no, they're mediocre. they're in the doldrums and it's tough to improve in the NBA when you're in the doldrums

they acquired a very big piece tonight in harden

YESSIRRRRR, BEEN BOUNCING OFF THE WALLLLSSS!!!

Think about this, the Rockets still have tons of cap space and trade assets, all it takes is one super star to become available before the trade deadline and BOOM, 2 of a potential big 3 done in 1 season with the offseason trades left to get geared at a run next year.

They have no trade assets unless you count Royce White who can't fly in planes.

I feel like they have handcuffed themselves. This is a better roster than they had obviously, but they don't seem to be any closer to a championship and they have really limited themselves cap wise assuming they give Harden a max.

They have to pray Harden turns into a legit #1, but I have some doubts .

Don't need a 3. Parsons is pretty good. Terrance Jones is the guy to watch.

as opposed to using that cap to sign harden?

i think they still have room for a max deal

what other option did they have to acquire talent at that level?

That'd make for one unflashy big 3, but thats more towards Houston's style.

Then somehow find a big man in the middle of all that.

No matter what, the Rockets needed this tonight, gives fans something to look forward to, gives them hope at improvement, and shows Morey can do it even though I always believed he could, but dumbass GM's (Orlando) and Stern's veto have screwed them out of becoming competitive.

Jones will never be more than a 3rd option in this league imo. White is a wild card. I think Motiejunas is their best bet at the 4.
