quote:

“It’s not [an] easy fight for him or for me,” Golovkin said. “I think maybe a couple rounds [will be] very close. Just, you know, I look [at] his strategy, he looks [at] my strategy. I think [the] second half is much crazy, like a street fight, like a rob bank, like not step back.”

quote:

“The biggest day is coming,” Golovkin said. “A lot of money is coming, you know? It’s true. True. The biggest fight is coming, a true fight. I’m a boxer. I like fight. My biggest opponent is coming. It’s just very close. I’m very excited. I don’t know, maybe a very close situation like, OK, you’re going to meet with your new girlfriend. You’re excited, like, ‘Oh yeah! Oh yeah!’ You know, like that.”

I like Golovkin but to me he's an old 35 and Canelo is taking advantage of it. GGG doesn't seem to be the monster that he was from 2010-2015.

Yeah, I know all about his resume being far better than Canelo's but this is all about timing. At this moment, Canelo can outpoint him over 12.

Btw, Oscar has already arranged for Canelo to start the fight with a 3 round lead. Golovkin isn't winning a decision in Vegas against the Golden Boy's cash cow.

If it goes the distance, I don't see Canelo losing.

Everyone talks about how bad GGG looked in his last fight and act like Jacobs was some type of scrub. Jacobs was the taller, much heavier (skipped same-day weigh-in) fighter with a 3" reach advantage. Not to mention the #2 ranked middleweight in the world. Then they'll say how good Canelo looked when he was fighting Chavez's garbage arse. GGG would have knocked Chavez out and Canelo would have had an even tougher time against Jacobs.

I don't see Canelo knocking out GGG but GGG's best bet is to knockout Canelo because if it's a close fight and left to the judges IN VEGAS then you can bet your arse that they will gift Canelo a win like they did in the Lara fight.

Quoting myself from the Canelo/ Golovkin-24/7 thread since I was late to it.

I think GGG fans are under-estimating Canelo's skills and Canelo fans are making more out of GGG's age than need be with the "He's lost a step" arguments.

What's great about this fight is how their strengths play into each other... Canelo is great when fighters come at him and GGG is the King of pressure fighting.

How many years has it been since we've seen a fight this good?

Can't wait.

I think this is going to be a great fight. However, these 2 need to take a page out of Mayweather's book and learn how to market themselves a little better. This fight should produce more money for both of them than it's currently projected. Both are top notch fighters but not top notch marketers.

300 amateur fights
35 years old
Has been hit a lot over the last three years
Got battered by light hitting Kell Brook
Was hit constantly by Willie Monroe
Looked sluggish against Danny Jacobs, arguably lost.

It's not "silly"

Canelo rarely speaks English and Golovkin's English is average on a great day. It's hard for two fighters that speak foreign languages to appeal to the common American sports fan.

Also, the fight had more hype until Mayweather-McGregor was announced. At that point, this title fight was sort of forgotten until now.
