re: Golf's in good hands without Tiger

Tiger's problem recently has been his ability to come out of the gate and put up low numbers to start a tournament. He seems unable to have a fast start.
Agree.
He used to lead going into Sunday regularly.
Also, he can't seem to sustain momentum. Tiger at his peak would get into momentum that was insane. There would be 6-7 holes in a row where he was within 5 ft for birdie. He can't keep it together right now.
But, I think he will be competitive on Sunday in at least one major this year and will win 3-4 more in his lifetime. Guy is in great shape and will play 50 more majors.
ETA:
What Rickie did on the back 9 on Sunday is what Tiger used to do regularly on Fridays/Thursdays.

That's 12 more years. I don't think so.

I do.
Unless he retires.
Tiger is 39. Phil is 44.
Jack won the Masters at 46. Golfers will be playing longer and longer these days with modern athletic approach to physical fitness in golf.
ETA:
I think Tiger for sure will be playing Majors at 51. There have been 48, 46s, 45s, etc. to win majors.
shite, Tom Watson competed in a Major on Sunday in his 60s.

Tiger will have injuries more frequently as he ages, once you hurt your back you're always one swing away from another back injury.

Yeah that's a caveat as well, but hopefully he gets that under control.
I didn't say he'd be winning a ton of tournaments in his 50's, but he'll be playing in Majors and will have a punchers chance in more than a few IMO.

Tiger needs four majors. That means he would need to have a finish that would match Phil Mickelson's career. You're asking Tiger to have a Hall of Fame Career from now until he's 50. The Tiger I'm seeing right now won't do that and the field is as tough as it has ever been. I'm a huge Tiger fan, but I see nothing special out of him at the moment to make me think he can recapture what he once had.
It's a shame too. I never would've thought after the 2008 U.S. Open that would be the last time we see him win a major for at least 7 years.

Tiger's good shots are still very good....it's just that he hits more bad shots than ever. I think he had 20 birdies this week, which was enough to win.
I think they also said....he had played the par 5's at Sawgrass 247 times with only 2 double bogeys prior to this week. Yet he had 2 double bogeys on par 5's in the same round this week.

All of this.
I mean how many PGA tournaments has he won since the 2008 U.S. Open?
He's grinding just to make the cut in a lot of tourneys now it seems.

Not sure, but he was the PGA Player of the year in 2013. I'm convinced that if he doesn't hit the flag stick in the 2013 Masters, he would've gone on to win. No telling how things would've changed for him because that would've taken a lot of pressure off of his shoulders.
The guy has to play with as much pressure as anyone else. He knows that if he struggles, its going to be talked about by everyone. Meanwhile guys like Phil, Rory, etc. don't get that same negative coverage when they miss a cut.

15, including the Players Championship, and was 2013 Tour Player of the Year in which he led the tour in wins, money, and stroke average.

Look at Couples, speaking of back injuries. Freddie will compete for 2 rounds, make the cut and then fizzle away.

Reed has villain role on lock.
Eh, he's an insider's villain though. There are probably a lot of casual golf fans out there who only have little to passing knowledge of Reed. He's a bland personality for a villain.

His comments have made headlines though.
I doubt

And I'd have to expect people will learn more about him as he gets more famous. Everyone who has been around that kid can't stand him besides his wife. Its crazy. I think he'll make plenty of "a-hole" headlines throughout his career, he can't help himself.

Golf still needs some personalities tho.
If Horschel can consistently compete I think he brings a different type of personality to the game. He wears his emotion on his sleeve but still seems like he is fairly well liked.
