Good, now bring back screaming V10s, big tires, and more passing! ... I know that these turbo cars are setting record laps, but they have lost that 'excitement' factor...
Gotta give Bernie credit for his former years though. The Documentary "1" shows Bernie in his heyday and he really was the instrumental force behind F1 growing into a "world" sport.

I just don't see that happening with the current financial state that most of the teams are operating under. Those big engines are expensive and they're having a hard enough time filling out the grid as it is.

I think the hybrids are more expensive.

They aren't setting records.
Bernie has no influence on the technical/sporting regulations the FIA sets for the sport - he just controlled the sport's commercial interests.

Give Bernie credit for making sure a lot of F1 money stuck to his hands.

I think the more important thing is that Ross Brawn is now involved on the sporting regulations side of things. He seems to understand what F1 is missing at the moment and if anybody knows how to fix it it's him. Here's a quote:
For one thing, he's an advocate of simplifying the rules, which is badly needed. Also, he wants to the governing body to become more proactive than reactive. He understands that the sport needs more parity, not necessarily faster cars. Faster cars are great but it's not exciting to see them go around the track in single file 5 seconds faster than last year. If the only excitement is seeing which Mercedes driver wins and who gets third step on the podium then that's pretty boring.
I don't think anything is going to improve this year and maybe not even next year. But the next time they overhaul the regulations, I'm expecting better racing. If not, I'm probably done with F1.
