I really didn't expect for Hamilton to make it the whole race on one stop. Especially dealing with the traffic.

That is good for them when they move to the Euro leg of the season. Super Softs to start then medium with am option for ultrasofts the last 10 laps.

renamed to season thread since we don't have that much F1 talk on here. Anyways, Bahrain Q2 with 7 minutes to go and only one car on track. They can't possibly give this format a third shot unless something amazing happens in Q3.

Man, I don't generally envy anybody but now that they aren't killing a couple of these guys a year like in the 50's and 60's they really have got it going on.

It must be fantasyland to be one of these top tier guys.

It should be an exciting race tomorrow. Ferrari have closed the gap on the Mercs quite a bit. It will be interesting to so if Vettel can get the jump on them at the start again. I'm also proud of the HAAS guys aging. P9 with another good shot at picking points Tom.

Gutierrez wasn't too shabby either. I'm hoping for the best tomorrow, I would love to see Haas score double points in their second race.

I'm really liking Hass start and it seems the Ferrari engines could pass the merc on the straight.

Cheeky exchange between Fernando Alonso and commentator Johnny Herbert. Herbert basically said Alonso should retire because he appears to be unmotivated. McLaren is still trying to get their car together and Honda is still trying to work out the kinks in the engine. I honestly believe Alonso is the best driver on the grid capable of wringing out the most out of bad cars.

Fernando Alonso is clearly was not happy with Johnny Herbert’s comment that he should retire and hit back at the Brit in Bahrain paddock on Saturday.

I love how the American team is so competitive immediately, but it's suspicious compared to how hard other new teams have struggled. Perhaps they got more help from Ferrari with aerodynamics than they were supposed to. Or maybe having Dallara making the chassis is the difference.

Now I want to see Haas put an American in the 2nd seat, just like Honda and Toyota put Japanese drivers in seats.

Toyota never had a Japanese driver except for their final two races (2009 season) when Glock got injured.

I want there to be an American driver as much as the next guy but only when the time is right and there is someone out there deserving of it. Right now I don't see any serious candidates out there to be honest.

Poor Vettel. Hamilton's car doesn't look right, way too many sparks after that hit from Bottas.

Tough luck for Gutierrez again with another early retirement.

Danica Patrick?

Teams usually go for the best drivers regardless of nationality. Force India team has never had an Indian driver for example. There were a couple of drivers after Narian Kartikeyan that could have been given a chance, but just weren't top flight enough to get a seat in an F1 car.

Grosjean had a bad last stop that dropped him to 8th but still looks like we'll get points. I'm fine with that, they showed good speed and I'll chalk the pit stop miscue up to a learning moment for the team.

I hope they get points, Grosjean is quick on the track and deserves some. I don't think they've even shown Rosberg more than twice this whole coverage

Rallied back to P5 great effort. They just need to get the other car finishing races.

Great race for Kimi, but Ferrari is clearly pushing the envelope in an attempt to be competitive. Hamilton's recovery to 3rd is a testament to Mercedes' team power.

I was just thinking Haas and Grojean got more air time than the Mercedes and ferraris, if they keep this up, sponsors will be lining up for them.

Very impressive start for haas
