If Vettel can't win races, having Rosberg on the team isn't going to do anything for them. Anyway, he seems to be doing a good job of leading the series, so I don't know why he'd want to leave.

The only thing that would vault Ferrari back into championship contension is to bring back Todt, Brawn, and Byrne. Ferrari has been a ship without a rudder ever since they sacked Schumacher and all the technical personnel left. Having Vettel and Rosberg would do nothing. They haven't invested in the right technical personnel. The only reason Mercedes is doing so well is because the have the best engine. Red Bull, although powered by Renault engines, hang in there because Newey has the best design and chassis on the grid.

Vettel is a proven winner. Most of the disappointment from this year has been due to bad luck (Kyvat) and poor strategy/ reliability on the part of the team.

Not entirely true. While the do currently have the best engine, they've also seriously invested in the Virtual Test Track simulator technology. Adopting the VTT before many other teams put them ahead of the game in many ways. Ferrari only recently adopted the VTT and many have contributed their progress over the past 2 years to the adoption of this technology.

There's definitely an element of that, but I still don't think changing drivers is going to amount to much, especially if you have the same personality conflicts regarding who will be the #1 driver.

There's also a rumor of Ricciardo replacing Kimi in the near future.
I don't think Ricciardo would go back to being Vettel's lap dog. If anything, I think he would go to a team where he has the chance of being the #1 driver or at least on equal footing.. Ferrari is building the team around Vettel. Red Bull has anointed Verstapen as the heir apparent. I honestly wouldn't be surprised is McLaren jettison Button to replace him with Ricciardo. And the following year, if Alonso retires or moves on, replacing him with Vandoorne.

Button is out after this year and Vandoorne is replacing him. The interesting question comes for '18 -- who replaces Alonso?

If Macca doesn't get their act together in the next year or so, they'll probably look for a cheaper replacement: Grosjean, for example, who will only be able to demand around $10M / season.

I can understand this line of thinking, but racing for Ferrari is a dream job that not many on the grid would pass up.

From everything I've seen, Button's spot is Vandoorne's for the taking.

Can't disagree and I don't see Ferrari's fortunes changing any time soon...

Hamilton obviously has no problem creating contact with his own teammate. What a douchebag.

Great start by Vettel. He's been doing that all year. The commentators don't like the two stop strategy, but I think it will work if Hamilton can't block Vettel.

Rosberg is squandering everything he's done this season. A theatrical "comeback" championship by Louis would be

Once again Ferrari pits early while in the lead and blows their chances.

Actually, I wouldn't attribute it to bad strategy. I would give props to Lewis Hamilton being able to take his tyres the distance over 35+ laps. Hamilton was on much older tyres, while Vettel was locking up and cutting chicanes trying to catch Hamilton. I think its a big statement to the quality of the mechanical grip generated by the Mercedes chassis and the the Mercedes Aero department.

Lewis' tires had to have been spent by the end of that race. Impressive drive. Ferrari now have a car that will keep up with the Mercs so hopefully they can stay out of their own way strategically.

Hamilton's front left was looking bad with 25 laps to go, but it was obviously enough. Who knows anymore after he put 47 laps onto the Ultra Softs in Monaco.

That's about all of it I got to see. The first thing I heard was David Hobbs talking about how Hamilton was definitely going to have to pit. So naturally I assumed he'd nurse them until the end. If Seb could have closed the gap, he might have been able to destroy Lewis' tires but he'd be wearing his own tires in the process too.
