re: For the OSU 24-0 argument....

There are some arguments that hardly need to be made.
If OSU finishes undefeated in an AQ-qualifying major football conference, they will not be left out of the MNCG.
Period. End of story.
The fact that they haven't lost a game in two years will only serve to put icing on the cake.

Did Auburn just not beat the 2 time defending champ that was 28-1 before tonight's game?
Also won 3 of 4 national championships
Yeah buckeyes, your shite is weak.
BTW, how many ranked teams have you beat out of those 24?
Yes, Auburn beat Bama tonight. This is the same Bama people have said shouldn't be a 2X defending champ cause they should never have made the game in 2011. This is the same Bama team who has lost AT HOME 2 years in a row. This is the same Bama team who was well behind KSU, ND and Oregon last year when they had one loss, and they were defending national champs.
Auburn has won 5 games over teams with winning records. OSU has 6.
OSU, if they win next week, will likely have won games against 2-3 teams who will be ranked going into bowl games (If Iowa ends up in the 20-25 range which they may well do). Auburn will have...wins over 3 ranked teams when bowl games
begin (LSU, Bama and Mizzou) ole miss and UGA will not be ranked likely.
I've tried to make as objective an argument as I can. I think the real issue is that if you have an undefeated team from a BCS conference get left out this year, what is the point to even playing the season? The SEC automatically gets a team in if they only have 1 loss?
edit: one more. OSU and PSU were not bowl eligible last year, 2 of the best 4 teams in the conference. It is hard to win Bowl games anyway, and much harder when everyone is slotted 2 bowl games higher than they should. The B1G may not have had a better record, but OSU would have been in the Rose, knocking Wisky and Michigan down a notch, making the games more competitive

Sad that it took until page three for some intelligent posts to show up.

This means nothing based on who each beat....
BUT IF OSU beats MSU next week its a non-issue. Ya can't leave a an unbeaten team out because of a one loss team, no matter who they have played. A Shame though. Because AU would give FSU a way better game than OSU would.

you'd think they've earned that respect by now... maybe the SEC needs to win 18 in a row

OSU sure gets a ton of hate on here They deserve to be there if they win their conference next week.
You know that how? How are you so sure that Clemson is better than either Wisky or MSU (assuming OSU wins next week) Everyone keeps complaining about OSU's schedule as if FSU's is something to brag about.

We've tried the Ohio State formula in MNCGs before and they got drubbed. Then they went out west to USC and got drubbed. A lot of media went to thru Big Ten country for their degrees or schools rivaled with them so in their minds it's a super relevant conference.
Florida St competes with SEC schools for recruits so people know that the talent is there. Plus they blew everyone the played out. They didn't struggle against Buffalo, they didn't almost lost to a 4 loss Michigan. Y'all most dominate win was against a team that received almost the death penalty in Penn St. Even Penn St beat Michigan and Wisconsin, it's not a schedule or a pool of talent that makes anyone believe they deserve a BCSCG. Same thing with Notre Dame, the media loved them and they pulled out some crazy wins against Stanford and USC but we all knew they would get crushed by Alabama.
Ohio St could not hang with Florida St or Auburn or probably even Missouri.

What is the difference, in your opinion, between OSU and Northern Illinois?
Unbiased computer polls confirm this.

So beating shitty teams makes you deserving of the NC game just because you have an egg in the loss column?

In the ACC, the team leading the conference is actually talented.
You're making some stupid points but this one is right at the top. If you don't think that Ohio State has top tier talent you are delusional.

Whoa not so fast my friend. They hung with an incredible Miami team I'll give them that. But the refs hosed Miami with the phantom PI call. Game should have been over. Since then the SEC has gotten the best talent out of the South and it's the premier talent in the nation. They go against the elite and they would get waxed just like in 06 and 07.

Michigan State gave up 28 points and over 200 rush yards vs Nebraska and 28 points to Indiana.
Let's look at common opponents (Ohio State didn't play Nebraska):
Michigan: Ohio State gave up 41, Michigan State gave up 6
Illinois: Ohio State gave up 35, Michigan State gave up 3
Indiana: Ohio State gave up 14, Michigan State gave up 28
Purdue: both teams shut them out
Iowa: Ohio State gave up 24, Michigan State gave up 14
Northwestern: Ohio State gave up 30, Michigan State gave up 6

Your right the refs did a shite job that game.
4th quarter, if this gets called OSU simply knees the ball

And what did each offense put up during those games?
Yay you shutout Purdue but you also only scored 14.
