College OT Rules are the best.

I say just go to sudden death, and whoever kicked off to begin the game receives in overtime. This eliminates the coin being a factor, and a team can strategize based on the knowledge that they will or won't receive the ball in overtime.

Yeah, lets change the rules for the Pats again.

We already have the Brady rule, the Tuck rule, the "misinterpreted the rules" rule, deflate footballs, spygate, etc...

Lets make a new rule that if the game goes to OT...

And the Pats win the coin toss, they win the game.

If the opponent wins the coin toss, they have to score a TD in under 2 minutes.

Then everyone in America and on the MSB will be satisfied.

This post had nothing to do with the Pats. I've thought OT should work this way for a long time.

Here's my proposal. Pull 11 fans from each team out of the stands and let them play a college rules OT. The winning 11 get season tickets for life.

Each team should get the ball in OT like college until there is a winner. However, special teams should come into play as well. OT begins with a kickoff from the 10 yard line. On average, teams would begin their possession around midfield. They can punt, but if the first team scores, then they kick off from their ten yard line. After that, if there is still a tie, then teams begin their possession from the fifty yard line. Otherwise there might be too many kickoffs and it would be dangerous for the players. After the 2nd OT, teams would have to go for two points after a TD.
This is the best of all worlds. Both teams are guaranteed to get the ball and all phases of the game are represented. It would also be extremely exciting.
