eephus pitch

I spent a couple of hours one night in a bar talking baseball, and specifically the eephus pitch, with a friend of mine.

Yes, most of my stories involve sitting around in bars talking to people.

Anyway, we both wondered why no one ever breaks it out from time to time as an uber change up...

Rugby: Any scrum

Really? You enjoy restarts that much? OK...

In rugby, what I like seeing (to someone else) is a perfectly executed dummy pass, like what I saw a couple of weekends ago in a Super 14 match. Resulted in a try, as the fullback totally bit on it and almost fell over.

Figures a prop would say that...

I'm really debating between a perfectly run strike play off the set piece (see Tommy Bowe's second try against England two weeks ago) or a well placed and executed kick and chase. Yeah, I'm a wing. Sue me.

It might work, but I doubt most major leaguers are jackasses like this guy

There's also a big risk throwing it. If it gets smoked, that is a major embarrassment. If it works, though, you look like a genius.

In football I love when a fumble gets recovered by a fatass lineman. Watching him run it looks like he is in quicksand.

For some reason, I think it would work most of the time.

I had to look some vids up because, although I've known about it for a while, I've never seen it thrown.

Football: catch on the sideline with dragged feet to sat in bounds
Basketball: Guard dunking on a C
Rugby: Prop on prop tackle - and a diving tackle not when they basically just run into each other..i've only seen it live once and the impact was crushing.
Soccer: Volley from a corner (LINK )

Basketball- a hustle dive on the floor while on defense that leads to a fast break dunk.
it gets the bench and crowd so energized when a play like that happens
