First, let me admit to being a Catholic homer.
Second, let me say that neither of those championships came against the comparartive elite competition that was 5A football during the 90s and early 00s.
Catholic has had some great players and great teams and we've never won a championship, and that is Weiner's fault but we're consistently in the playoffs/double digits in wins. There are few schools in the state that have had as much football success as Catholic over the past 10-15 years.

My favorite was Dutchtown beating CHS at home in the playoffs after losing to them in BR during the regular season. To the old CHS punk who cheered when Perkins (Dtowns QB) got hurt during the game, who then said " good, stay down, stay down." Then who bragged before the game was over that CHS never lost to a Benny Saia coached team.

the time they beat West Monroe in the dome for state was simply amazing.

BigJ, I stay away from Catholic threads until I see you in them. The problem is there isn't a Catholic thread you can't stay out of.
Why do you care so much about Catholic?

what people dont understand is that dutchtown is a fairly new school (6-7 years open) and in that time, they got their arse beat by everyone it seemed for the first 4-5 years. for them to beat a program like catholic was huge because we had gotten our arse whipped everytime. Dtown also beat them again this year but it wasn't as big as that first win over them. Next win we need is over destrehan.

I don't give a shite about catholic nor do I give a shite about my former HS. I haven't been to a game in years. The "fans" just make easy targets

I'll believe it when there is a Catholic thread you don't post in. You may not like Catholic, but you obviously give a shite.

The CHS-Shaw OT epic in '97 or '98, when Applewhite and Minor led them back was a great game. Also some old CHS-Broadmoor, CHS-Tara, CHS-Redemptorist, CHS-Plaquemine games back in the '60s and '70s..the '80s under Varnado..not so much.
The Factory on Hearthstone threads always brings out the haters.

My freshman year, season of 1999, beat St. Amant (screw 'em) 3-0. Blocked a field goal late to win it after stopping them four times at the 1-yard line. Badass.
21 dive 4 straight times!!!

It sure was refreshing to see the disadvantaged public school with new uniforms, sky cam in the EZ and chartered buses finally knock off the elitist private school with no stadium and the same uniforms since 1998.

How does Catholic really expect to compete year in and year out with old uniforms???

FWIW...Fastest white dude I ever saw. We played baseball/basketball together at Redemptorist before he transferred his Sophomore year to Catholic. The fake punt must have happened in 91 because we graduated in 92.
