The Whizard is too low. Taking Arizona to the SuperBowl is way more impressive than anything anybody in tier 3 did. Should be solidly tier 2, if Lovie Smith and Jeff Fisher are tier 2.

Lost 3 straight NFC Championship games and then when he finally gets to the Super Bowl, loses that.

So? Teams have a talent ceiling.

Okay? I watched part of the San Diego game and Seattle received 3 illegal contact penalties; not sure if more were called but I saw at least three of them.

I guess "Illegal Contact" would also be the correct call on all of these.

The funny thing is that the Saints offense was called for PI in this game and not Seattle.

Like I said, Seattle was brazen about it, and openly admitted they were doing it and just didn't give a frick. It got them a Super Bowl.

I don't fault them for it. It was smart. (I do fault the NFL for letting them get away with it).

They are still a very talented team and will win a lot of games this year.

But what you're seeing in the preseason might as well be called the Seahawks Rule. The NFL is overreacting the other way.

Nor do I, it was brilliant. I believe there is a mic'd up with Richard Sherman where the ref tells him to watch the contact, and he tells the ref to call it then.

That's a pretty good list. One thing that sticks out is that seeing Fisher at 11th, which I think may still be a bit high for him. He's a top 5 salaried coach, yet has done very little in his career. I've never really understood why he's such a hot commodity.

Whoever made that list should be fired, tarred, feathered, and put on display.

I love when people put crap like this without giving an explanation.

Why don't you explain WHY you hate the list.

For starters, putting Payton and Carroll on the top tier with a-hole is ridiculous. The Saints haven't made it past the divisional round since they won the championship, and Carroll has only had two good years (not counting the 7-9 playoff year). Then tier 2 is jacked up. Andy Reid at #4? What has that fat frick ever done? Tom Coughlin, beneficiary of two fluke Superbowl runs at #5? Jim Harbaugh all the way down at #8? Marvin Lewis at #15 despite the fact the no one knows why he still has a job despite winning nothing?

Tier 1
1. Belichick

Tier 2
2. Jim Harbaugh
3. McCarthy
4. Payton
5. Tomlin
6. Other Harbaugh
7. Fox
8. Fisher
9. Reid
10. Carroll
11. Kelly

The rest.

Marvin Lewis should maybe win one playoff game before he is put in Tier 2.

Made the playoffs in 10 of his 15 seasons. NFC Championship. 21st in career wins. Super Bowl is kind of a trump card.

2. Jim Harbaugh

What has he accomplished that has him 2nd while Pete Carroll is 10th? Hell, what has he accomplished over Reid?

Including a Super Bowl win. Kind of the point

15th in career wins with 2 "fluke" super bowl championships. You discount Reid b/c of his lack of a Super Bowl then discount Coughlin b/c he was lucky.

And no Super Bowl wins in 15 years with talented teams. I will admit angst towards him for fricking over the Steelers last year (rabble rabble made playoffs already rabble look at it from my standpoint, that game was heartbreaking).

36-11-1 in his first three years, took a team that had sucked since 2003 to three straight conference championship games. So, one NFC championship game away from accomplishing what Reid has in much less time.

Including a Super Bowl win. Kind of the point

So that puts him over 5 other more accomplished coaches who have won a Super Bowl?

He's been coaching since the dawn of man, he should have that many wins. The first win may not have been that fluky, they were 10-6, my mistake.

A lot of coaching rankings seem to be on a de facto "lifetime achievement" basis. If this is a list of the current best coaches, it's horrendous.
