Common consensus among fans is that the team that gets more picks wins the trade generally, but I like this for the Eagles. They need a franchise QB desperately.

Why resign Bradford then? Just roll with Daniels and let the new guy sit.

It really is an incredible haul to move back 6 spots. Realistically you're only risking 5 players going in front of you that you really want anyways since it is apparent they don't want Wentz/Goff.

I think it is pretty clear now that LA and Cleveland wanted the same QB. Otherwise, there would have been no real reason for LA to pay that price to get ahead of Cleveland. Obviously Cleveland didn't covet whoever was the #2 QB. The Eagles must have found that out and decided they were going to beat probably the 49ers and maybe the Cowboys to the punch to get to #2 and take their guy. If so, good for Cleveland to not reach for a QB they didn't love. They need a lot more than just a QB.

Of course, maybe they like Lynch or Cook a lot and figured they could get their guy AND pick up some additional pieces in the process.

Stolen from r/nfl:

The Eagles essentially traded two 1sts, two 2nds, a 3rd, a 4th, Byron Maxwell, and Kiko Alonzo to go from 13 to 2.

this may turn out to be as bad as any trade ever.

it has the potential to equal the chief (previous years' s #1) and the #3 pick that turned into McHale for Joe Barry Carrol.

I guess the football equivalent is Hershel for a slew of MN picks over a couple of years. Cowboys won super bowls. Thank you MN. that Cowboy trade was contingent on waiver action leading to additional picks. MN was played.

As a fellow Boston sports fan I like this one as well(although it doesn't involve 2 HOF's).

Red Sox send Heathcliff Slocumb to Seattle for Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe.

The Sox don't break the curse without it.

This gives the Browns a little extra time to do something really stupid at #8.

This is what will happen, but it looks like a good trade for the Browns.

They probably won't need another one for the next ten years

Cleveland can start a good build with all of those picks. Build around Griffin this year and maybe look at a qb next year.

Or draft a QB with #8 this year and another QB with one of their first rounders next year.

I think I am a minority here, but hell, if I was the browns, I would have stayed put and taken Carson Wentz. That would mean the browns would have the number 1 or 2 pick next year as well. I wouldn't have played Wentz this year. And next year I would have traded that pick for a bounty.

That way I get a qb and I get a boatload of picks. This way I get a boatload of picks. Chances are I will still suck next year but might not be 1 or 2 worst teams in the league. And sitting at 4th worst just isn't going to cut it.

Sad fact is in todays NFL, you trade a ton for a qb. The qb is by far and away the most important player on the team. While neither Goff nor Wentz is the same as Luck, the fact is both could be franchise qbs and are high up there on the list. They then go

Look at the multitude of teams that have tried to do it without qbs. They rarely make it. Broncos are the rare exception.

I'm fricking done with the eagles...i mean how do you give up so many draft picks for someone unknown? do they not pay attention to the past when teams trade picks to move up?

Maybe they didn't like Wentz. Maybe the offer was too good to pass up. Chances are really good neither the Browns nor the Eagles are going to be very good this year. They'll most likely have 2 top 15 picks next year, maybe two top 10 picks. They'll have plenty of leverage to get a QB next year. Unless RGIII is productive or they get Paxton Lynch this year.

I would say this is a smart move by the Browns. One player isn't going to jackshit for that team anyways. Get extra picks, give yourself a chance to select more difference makers or hell at least quality starters for your new coach, build up a foundation through the draft this year and next year and then when you have a quality roster built up, go out and get your franchise guy in 2018 a la the Steelers in 2004 and the Seahawks in 2012.

But then again, this is the Brown so they'll frick it all up somehow. And someone is going to look like an idiot for taking Wentz in the first round, Dude is Matt Leinhart 2.0

This move makes no sense to me for Philly.

They could have traded down a bit and had Lynch and another pick or 2. If you're going to sit a guy for a year and develop him, why not get a better value for that move.

Outside of taking one of the qbs, that would be the dumbest pick for them. Take Ramsey/Jack/Bosa andenjoy your quality starter for the next decade.
