he should have fought his arse in the locker room and then told the team why. But if dude was making threats to his family hes lucky Martin didn't shoot his arse.

You really think he would harm this guys family?
Considering that Incognito is one of the dirtiest players in the game and seems to be a few cans short of a six-pack? HELL YES I think he's capable of it.
He's had serious anger and attitude issues for years. I wouldn't want to be there when he tried to do something and it "accidentally" went too far.
Also we don't know the entirety of what Incognito did. Maybe Martin had valid reasons to fear Incognito's actions that could have been directed towards his family based on previous actions of Incognito.

Sports Illustrated story on Incognito from 10 years ago
quote:
Incognito, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound junior from Glendale, Ariz., was a first-team All-Big 12 selection last year by The Associated Press. He has one season of eligibility left.
The Cornhuskers suspended him indefinitely for what coach Bill Callahan called repeated violations of team rules.
In February, Incognito was charged with three counts of assault stemming from a fight at a party. He was found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge after a three-day trial in June and paid a $500 fine. Another charge was dismissed and he was found innocent of the third. In the spring of 2003, former Nebraska coach Frank Solich suspended Incognito for unspecified reasons.
Incognito was reinstated and went on to start all 13 games last season. As a freshman in 2002, he was ejected for fighting from the Huskers' game against Penn State, then sat out the first half against Iowa State game the next week.

If your only obvious solution is the fight the guy, see ya.

Not at all. This would have gone very poorly for Martin. We know Incognito is dirty, but he's also apparently got more friends on the team than Martin. Incognito would have just whipped Martin's arse and everyone would already know what it's about and not care.

and the story would be manipulated and twisted to shed a good light on incognito and a negative one on martin.

The NFL is lucky on this account as well.

You started the name calling
What are the other players saying about it? I mean if it was that horrific, surely someone would defend the guy. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want a player on my team who quit, even if it were for threats and making him pay for things
Again, some people are acting like this has never happened to anyone else and they haven't dealt with it, even if there was one guy who took it too far

not everyone is like you or your perception of what a "real man" is....you never know what people have been through. he walked away from the game that im sure he loves and that takes just as much if not more guts than getting in a fist fight to prove a point.

Can I borrow that joke? You know, for social gatherings when I want to look like a real intellect in front of my friends
