1. 13-0 Mississippi State SEC Champ
2. 13-0 Florida State ACC Champ
3. 12-1 Alabama SEC Champ
4. 12-1 Mississippi State SEC Champ
5. 12-1 Oregon Pac-12 Champ
6. 12-1 Arizona State Pac-12 Champ
7. 11-1 Baylor Big 12 Champ
8. 11-1 TCU Big 12 Co Champ
9. 11-1 Alabama SEC West Runner Up
10. 11-1 Mississippi State SEC West Runner Up
11. 11-2 Alabama SEC Champ
12. 11-2 Mississippi State SEC Champ
13. 12-1 Ohio State Big 10 Champ
14. 12-1 Florida State ACC Champ

EDIT: Baylor is an interesting case. I think they have to be ahead of TCU in the above scenario, but I think a 1 loss Ohio State or 1 loss SEC team gets in ahead of them due to non conf SOS.

9 is impossible
11 is almost impossible

12-1 FSU and OSU would be ahead of 11-2 sec champions

No. At least these three should also be ranked ahead of 13-0 FSU IMO.

The committee is not going to take a 1 loss SEC team who doesn't win their division over a 1 loss Big 12 conf. champ. It's just not going to happen. On the same token, the Pac 12 is the 2nd ranked conf. A one loss conf. champ from there is not getting left out.

Also, I don't see an undefeated FSU being the #1 seed over a 1 loss Bama, MSU, Oregon and maybe even Baylor. It will be seeded like basketball. Last year UF was the #1 overall seed with 2 losses. Arizona was the #2 overall seed with 4 losses. Undefeated Wichita St. was the #3 overall seed. Who you play and beat matters.

I'm not sure this matters, although I know they have said something about keeping the higher seeds "closer" to home. but how do they do that if hypothetically Bama/FSU are 1/2? Bama gets the Sugar and FSU has to fly out to the Rose? Is that fair? If they can do B1G/Pac 12 in a game would they try and do that at the Rose to hell with the rankings?

I'm intrigued with the entire thing right now, but will not be intrigued so much as absolutely pissed if OSU gets left out with 1 loss in week 2 after absolutely blistering through the rest

Probably not now, but had AU run the table they weren't getting jumped.

Florida State is getting in even with a loss as long as they don't embarrass themselves in that loss.

Not saying they'd deserve it, but that's what would happen.

The Baylor vs TCU debate will be very interesting if they're co-champ. TCU has played better overall and will have the better ooc schedule, but Baylor beat them h2h.

Yeah. I tend to agree if that only loss is vs Miami. Who would then finish in the top 15.

If they lose to Duke or Florida, they're out tho.

I don't think Alabama could be 11-1 as a SEC West runner up. They would be champs at 11-1.

You also forgot 11-2 Auburn SEC Champions, and they would sit at about 11 in this ranking.

On December 7th:

1. SEC Champ
2. Undefeated Florida State
3. 1-loss PAC 12 Champ
4. 1-loss BIG 12 Champ

Out side looking in:
5. 1-loss Ohio State
6. 1- or 2-loss SEC West Runner-Up

"If" Bama beats Miss State, Auburn and wins the SEC title, they are in.

If Miss State's only loss is to Bama, they will be in too.

1.) FSU
2.) Bama
3.) Oregon (If they are 1 loss conference champs)
4.) Miss St --- only loss is to #1 and they will have beaten Aub, LSU, Ole Miss

5.) 1 Loss TCU
6.) 1 Loss Ohio State or Baylor

This is the scenario that we get 2 teams in if there are 3-5 teams with 1 loss.

After looking at this week's rankings, I take my statement back. They can still make it in with a loss of course, but yeah it's not going to be as easy as I made it sound

Yep but marginally. We are really splitting hairs.

TCU and Baylor both played SMU and a FCS team.
TCU beat Minnesota, likely will finish 7-5.
Baylor beat a bad Buffalo team.

If they choose TCU they will esentially be saying that the marginal difference in SoS means more than head to head result.

I'm not convinced an undefeated Florida St gets in the playoffs. If,
MissSt loses at Bama by 7 or less
MissSt beats Ole Miss by 20+
TCU wins out
Baylor wins out
Oregon wins out (including beating a one-loss AzSt in Pac12 Championship)

then I got,

1. Bama 2. Oregon 3. TCU 4. Miss St 5. FSU 6. Baylor

That would be unreal and highly unlikely.

They are the damn defending champs who beat an SEC team in the championship game, and the SEC will put two teams in ahead of them?

I don't see it.

Being defending champions has nothing to do with this season. Them beating an SEC team in that game also has nothing to do with this season
