I'll probably get downvoted for this, but I'll say it anyway. I root for people, not countries. I root for Usain Bolt, because he is one of the single greatest athletes to have ever lived. Watching him run is an absolute joy, and his enthusiasm is infectious. And for as fun-loving as he is, he is also a class act.
I don't like Gatlin. I don't like his personality, and I have a hard time looking past his doping history.

Have you ever run track against legit competition and had to run in a heat one day to qualify for finals in the next?? I'm going to guess no.
Most of the athletes are busting their arse 100% all the way through to either get a Top 2 AQ position or have a finishing time that gets them into the finals.
The ones with greatest ability and shot to win the entire thing, if they're able to coast and still get into the finals without trouble, they will.
This is especially true with middle to long distance prelims.

Yes..all time level greatness shouldn't be hated on plus the best American is a guy who has been suspeneded multiple times for doping.

This...I can't even figure an American equivalent- Ali maybe- Marley to Jamaicans went way beyond some albums and a chill vibe.
