He played dumb/denied any and all involvement today.

Do you believe him?

Dude is seemingly everything that’s right about baseball, but I’m not sure I believe it’s possible to be that ignorant of his personal financial situation. We’re talking millions of dollars.

I just don’t know.

I don't have a problem with him gambling. The only reason it isn't legal for him to do so is because he lives in California. It's a stupid rule.

I don't believe that he didn't know and the money was stolen from him.

Not a word of it. How do you not notice $4.5 m just disappearing randomly from your account? When you wire money, banks go through a pretty drawn out process too. This dude is a clown, he can deny it all day, but he’s a liar.

I hate the Dodgers, but if he were really into sports gambling, why did he stay in SOCAL instead of signing somewhere that it was legal?

It's insane that Trevor Bauer is having a 3rd year (and probably close to the end of his prime) stolen from him and he did nothing wrong. A guy who made the best of it and decided to be a true ambassador of the game to Japan, learning the language, embracing the culture, doing everything right.

Meanwhile you've got Ohtani who doesn't even respect America enough to learn a few cursory phrases of English in the 6 years he's lived here literally wire a heckin bookie $4.5 million and nothing happens.

And I actually really like Ohtani and hope he doesn't miss any games. Just wanted to point out how hypocritical and unfair MLB is being (as usual).

I can buy him not gambling, but the idea that he had no idea Ippei took his money is an easy to read lie, especially considering Shohei's team setup an interview for Ippei with ESPN to detail that Shohei's only involvement with that illegal bookmaker was giving him money to cover Ippei's debts... then they realized that's still illegal and so now they are changing the story that Shohei had no idea.

I believe he’s completely ignorant of his financial situation choosing to stay in the state of California and absorb their insane tax rate for 50% of his games.

I don't believe his best bud and interpreter of over 10 years just started stealing millions from his bank account.

Come the hell on.

Pete Rose needs to go in HOF immediately if MLB sweeps this under the rug

Also, Ohtani was a free agent who just signed a mega contract with the Dodgers. I would assume he was on top of his money more than ever right now. Especially deferring a majority of it.

It's unreal that he would have just learned of this stuff within the past week or so.

Either Ohtani was in on it or he was helping his friend. Either way I don't believe for a second this dude just stole millions from his bank account. Like what?
