I like this for Cleveland. JR smith can be their 6th man and add another 3pt shooter to help space the floor for Lebron. Man, when that dude gets hot...Shumpart helps them with their perimeter D that they need. Wasn't some NBA guy comparing Shumpart to Dwade in terms of athleticism a couple years back? Maybe playing with Lebron can help him develop his game more. And like someone said Dalambert adds depth to their thin Center position.

If Waiters gives OKC any upgrade off the bench, they made out very well in this:

You're getting an inefficient volume shooter who brings nothing else to the table.

I actually like this trade for OKC now that they are keeping Reggie Jackson.

Cleveland is the one who lost here imo.

I think everyone won to be honest.

Cleveland get's rid of Dion Waiters (known selfish player who think he should be a #1 option and isn't a team player) and replaces him with an older better version of himself who they will most likely dump\trade within a year (JR Smith). Then as a bonus they get Iman Shumpert. Iman is exactly what they need. A guy who will play stout defense and get ~7-10 points a game. Iman will probably be a starter when healthy. Cleveland gets a little better and adds depth.

OKC loses basically nothing and gets a legit bench scorer. Again, selfish player but will score. If it doesn't work out it's not a really a big deal. Low risk move for them.

Knicks are tanking and just dumping salary. Good for them to.

Knicks dumped Dalembert as well. Wonder if the Cavs pick him up?

I disagree with him on this being any sort of win for the Cavs.

JR Smith is just an older version of Waiters. Their per 100 numbers are basically identical (Waiters assist #'s are actually better).

Shumpert is whatever. I think he is largely just propped up by playing in NY his entire career.

Yea, I disagree with Smith being an upgrade over Waiters. Pretty much the same player.

Curious to see how it works out for the Cavs.

They were in need of a shakeup. Wouldn't shock me if JR starts going off with Cleveland.

Dion cant finish at the rim and puts up some really bad jumpers. Cavs needed peremeter defence. Now add a athletic big and a backup pg.

@WojYahooNBA: With McGary and Huestis, Thunder didn't believe it would have roster spot available for a 1st-round pick in 2015. Made deal even easier.

Would any other Western Conference contender like an upgrade at a position of need? Anybody?

I mean frick

Meanwhile we've got Monty Williams on our sidelines trying to turn Austin Rivers into a real-live NBA player, presumably because he's trying to win a bet with someone who said he couldn't. Or because he fricking hates us all.

Reggie is a restricted Free Agent. Ball's in OKC's court.

Cavs have been wanting to dump waiters for a while. They trade him for an older version of himself a good defensive SG. JR Smith is an upgrade because he has been good at coming off the bench and doesn't mind that roll and is a better scorer. Not saying it's a gigantic leap but JR smith is a slightly better player and might have a better attitude. The real winner is shumpert. Dude goes all out on D even when playing with on a shitty team tanking. He's something the cavs desperately need. The cavs get the same player coming off the bench and a new starter. They added depth and got rid of a guy who was seen as a cancer.

You may not think it's a win but it's definitely not a loss. If they pick up delambert as well then they basically just got rid of a guy they wanted to trade and got his more experienced clone and got better at SG and C

Would y'all really match though? At the rate guards are going for nowadays, that would be a lot to pay a back up pg.
