i think dee brown won it in 1992. big star there

quote:

Lebron needs it bad cause he's a bag of pocket pussies in this fan's opinion cause he was too scared to compete. Ah, the word compete.... it's a great word when you chew on it.

lebron has worked on his game to compete against the NBA today and has become a unique player in the history of the NBA

he literally does everything at a high level now. you don't do that without competing and working at your game

i don't know how his team will hold up over the next 5 years. that it outside of his control so it's unfair to judge him on this

same with titles

titles = team stats

Anyone in here saying that Nike made Jordan what he is has no clue. The Nike ads were hugely successful BECAUSE MJ backed it up on the court. There have been many players given superstar endorsements that weren't able to meet expectations and they faded away and out of sight.

Dan and Dave were going to take the 1988 (or 1992) Olympics by storm.
Larry Johnson had great commercials.
Michelle Wie has millions in endorsement dollars.
Dale Earnhart, Jr. had quite the hype machine behind him.

At the end of the day, an athlete has got to produce where it counts to reach "all-time great" status. No media hype can do that for a player.

congrats on the will of competing just not that of the level of competing that all time greats had in the blood of their veins.

I don't pretend to know the future. I do know that 2 years before Jordan ever won a title there were many people who said he would never win one. That his style of play wasn't conducive to winning championships. No one thought he'd go on the tear he did. 2 years people said the same thing about LeBron. Point is nobody knows the future. And putting artificial limits on what someone can achieve seems silly.

why didn't jordan work on his all around game in the same way? it is a jordan comparison

lebron does some shite better than jordan
jordan some some shite better than lebron

they're not the same type of player

it's like comparing magic to jordan

and if pippen got hurt for a year, the bulls' failure to make the finals would be jordan's fault?

see how stupid that is?

The old, if you can't quantify with a statistic it doesn't exist argument.

I'm guessing you 28 years old or younger.

This is primarily a generational dispute (or maybe just a contrarian one). People that were able to experience the fullness of Jordan's career (and the hype that accompanied it) and those that didn't.

I don't recall Lebron ever playing Lock Down D in an All Star game. I always remember Kobe and I remember MJ. Its in their blood. I can't give you their blood but if you can get a hold of some, run some analytical tests and shite, it'll show up.

it's a lot better than the "my gut feel and subjective beliefs prove this is right" argument every time

nope. i remember jordan's 6 titles, esp the last 3
