Only a one year contract is a bit of a buzzkill. I was hoping they would roll the dice and lock him up with a 3 or 4 year deal.

Yeah that part definitely sucks. I guess they could franchise him, but then they would have to get a deal done with Dez, which I think they do

That's true. I'm really pumped about this move.

This was probably the biggest need on the team and if hardy doesn't do dumb shite we hit a HR with this one.

Now.you can take some corners linebackers dt or qb in the draft if you want.

Exactly. It's not often that an elite 26 y/o DE falls into your lap at a reasonable price like this.

I gotta think they just go BPA between Rb and DB in the first round now.

I like the way the team is making decisions now.

Agreed. I wonder if Stephen is pulling all the strings now because I just can't see Jerry Jones changing so dramatically at his age

That needs to be the only two positions considered, maybe at DT, unless someone falls into our lamp

I don't think there is any question. And Stephen is listening to the football people advising him, and not the marketing people talking about generating marketing dollars. They are making prudent football decisions... finally.

Incorrect, their is a no franchise tag on this one. Luckily, he will not get paid for any games he misses and the cap hit is only around $2.6 Mil. Not bad at all for one of the best pass rushers in the league.

Yeah, five years ago JJ would've gave Murray every cent he wanted and if that didn't work, he would've mortaged the next two drafts for Peterson.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted AD but not if it meant JJ insanely overpaying ala Roy Williams or Joey Galloway.

Totally agree. I hate to see an 1800+ yard rusher go to a division rival, but I think they can get good RB production for way less money that doesn't cripple the ability to build depth in the roster.

Why can't they franchise him? I haven't bothered to keep up with all the new minutia details.

this is true. it took the god awful contracts to Marion Barber, Jay Ratliff and Leanard davis plus the JOey Galloway and Roy Williams trades to finally make Jerrah understand what it takes to build a consistent winner. you can't go all-in to win ona given year or two-year period without paying the piper hard.

The team now has competent football people like Garrettt and McClay making the decisions and Stephen making the cap decisions. Now Jerrah can do what he does best and market the franchise and say funny crap.

They agreed to waive that right (I'm sure per Hardy's request).

I guess they were thinking they can lock him down long term if he gets through the season unscathed.

yep it appears that the cowboys waived franchise rights. this is a pure 1 and done deal. no way they are going to pay him what he will command next year if he plays to his potential.

This is a brilliant move...I was hoping they could sign him to two years with minimal guaranteed money...even better to only commit to one year
