With the injuries to Rose and Howard I like these choices. Think either make the final roster?

Cousins, Wall, and Irving also added to the select team which will practice against the US team.

Davis, as Simmons articulated a few weeks back:

"It's the no-brainer of no-brainers! Anthony Davis just won an NCAA title. He protects the rim like nobody we've seen since a young Dikembe Mutombo. He's the ultimate teammate, someone who can affect basketball games without taking a single shot. Unlike Bynum, we won't have to worry about him screwing up team chemistry. He'll be the ultimate happy-to-be-there young guy."

Davis isnt even in the NBA yet. I know he was the shite in college but he hasnt even got to play in the pros yet.

Harden
instant offense. remember last olympics? everyone was stagnant offensively until melo just starting jacking up shots (and making them). with the international rules, its always a good idea to have pure scorers on the roster

that doesn't mean shite.

it's not like the USA Olympic team is asking 15 points and 20 rebounds per game from him.

They want him to come in off the bench. Protect the rim and the paint and rebound.

Name a big outside of the NBA in the world who will just absolutely dominate Davis?

I think Harden has a good shot to make the roster. It will be either him or Eric Gordon.

I don't see Davis making it.

Barring Injury:

CP/Westbrook/DWill
Kobe/Wade/
Lebron/Durant
Melo/Bosh
Chandler/Love

Those guys seem like locks to me. That leaves one spot going to a guy like Griffin, Gordon, Harden, Iggy, or Davis.

Or they leave one of the PGs off like DWill and go with another SG and another PF.

The selection system seems crazy to me. They have to turn in the final 12 and 6 alternates by June 18, but their first practice isn't until July 6. Seems weird.

The us team is thin at center and power forward. I suspect they'll only take 4 players there since there are so many better perimeter players and Carmelo or Lebron could play the 4 in a pinch. The only true 5 is Tyson Chandler, he's definitely in. Love and Bosh will be in at the 4. Then there's Griffin and Davis probably battling for the final post spot. I think Davis would be better because he can play either the 4 or 5 and his defense would be invaluable. Should be interesting.

Here's 10 I think are definitely in:

PG:
Paul
Williams

SG:
Wade
Kobe
Durant

SF:
Lebron
Carmelo

PF:
Love
Bosh

C:
Chandler

The last two are tough. the potential people left are:
Westbrook
Gay
Iguodala
Gordon
Davis
Griffin
Harden
I'm missing one.

What are your thoughts?

Definitely wouldn't mind either of them on the team. Like Simmons said, Davis doesn't need the ball to help his team, even though I would like to see Cousins on it because he has become very determined this year and wants to be on the team.

Harden is an instant offense kind of guy but he also makes everyone around him better too.

I agree with your locks.

I think harden, gay, and gordon compete for a shooter off thr bench spot. Harden would be my choice.

Then westbrook, iguodala, or gay for their defense depending on what type of player you want. Could sure use davis but any of the 3 wouldn't surprise me.

people relying to much on NBA positions. Lebron is not a 3 in international basketball. He's either a PF or a center.

Same for Durant.

I can't imagine Cousins will last more than a day in camp. Irving and Harden are good additions to the player pool. Either could be deserving of a spot if there are more injuries or guys who are tired and want to rest.

Irving also has U-17 and U-18 national team experience, not to mention familiarity with Krzyzewski. If Williams doesn't want to play without having signed a Max contract, I can see him as the third point behind Paul and Westbrook.

Unless it is spain i would expect almost all the pf minutes to go to lebron, melo, or kd. So another big isn't necessary.

And keys, irving and cousins can't make the team. They're there to practice.

Also, you can grab the ball off the rim in international play...imagine Davis with those rules?

Didn't Javale McGee somehow move from the Select team to the player pool in 2010 after a couple of injuries? I know he got cut eventually though.

I thought he was just added to the 20 man pool after Lopez got hurt. Don't remember if there was a select team at that point.

I've wondered about Williams contract situation as well, if he drops out I could see Irving added to the preliminary. Monroe should be on the select team as well.

I don't understand the need for DWill.

I'm not questioning his talent, i'm questioning why we need another PG when CP3, Wade, Kobe, Lebron all can play PG plus other positions.

and frick melo. he can leave his arse at home, the fans of USA team would much rather have Griffin

, yes i'm sure when international play starts there slide Durant down into the paint and tell him to hit the boards.
