Doesn't Scherzer have an 8yr./$240 million deal?

It might only be $30 mill per season, but I'll take the extra $23 mill for one year. I think I could get by on $23 mill in year #8.

yep, I'm more concerned with getting a good front line starter than how much it cost. As I said large market teams aren't going to die from a big money contract. I prefer we go from the farm system but its just not coming up fast enough.

I felt we went cheap after our world series and last year was just a horrible offseason.

I'm pretty sick of being a division basement dweller even after winning the title in 2013. Price, Owens, Erod, porcello and Miley is a rotation I can live with especially with Kimbrel closing.

Scherzers deal has deferred payments or whatever so with money valuation it was actually closer to $185-190 mil if you're being technical

Well that makes me like it a bit less but still happy with it considering baseball contracts are speculated to rise considerably.

What a horrible signing (the money).

its definitely an overpay. hes making basically the same amount of kershaw, 2 million more than clayton, and hes not the same pitcher nor is he as young as he is. but i really dont see why that matters. boston is one of the teams that can throw its weight around with money like this

I can't wait when he's traded like Gonzalez, CC, etc. These teams never learn.
