The colonoscopy prep sucks so I feel for you. I wish you the best on that and the test results.

SIAP but I saw this from Rome last night. Good sign if there actually is any BS drama about Maldy playing less.

Martín Maldonado said he’s picking up Christian Vázquez tomorrow and bringing him to the field. The two are friends and played winter ball together.

Maldy already submitting. He's our new starting catcher's chauffeur.

You don't get Christian Vasquez to be a backup to shitty Maldy. You don't give up legitimate prospects for a once a week backup catcher. If that's what you want, you go get a Dustin Garneau, Jason Castro veteran non hitter for nothing. Why anyone thinks Vasquez is a backup blows my mind

People buy into the myth of Maldy. His actual defense in overrated, he's not that good of a pitch receiver. So basically his only skill is being a nanny to our pitching staff. He can do that from a backup role.

I love Yuli and I have nothing personally against Maldonado. But as a fan, I want the guys who produce the most to play the most. Sounds cold but winning makes me happiest as a fan, not getting to see a particular player play or stay on a team even if he’s not producing.

I'm absolutely fine with Maldy in a backup role but he shouldn't be starting. He seems to work hard at his craft, he's a good teammate, the pitchers have nothing but good things to say about him. But he just can't be one of 9 everyday starters.

Vazquez is +5 in runs saved. Maldonado is -3. Both aren’t good pitch framers. Vazquez is around 30 percent base stealers caught. Maldonado is at 25 percent. The offensive comparison is no contest.

There is no tangible asset Maldonado has that Vazquez doesn’t have. Make him a coach, hell, let him wear Orbit’s costume. But his appearances should be reduced to 1 or 2 games a week.

I think Maldy is a smart guy. I think he will be on board because he wants to win. He's probably already thinking about his transition to coaching.

Want another big move to get amped and shake the funk off, just been a weird feeling for this team since all star break.

I think it’s mostly due to the inconsistency in the lineups and Tuckers downward trend

The trades so far feel like appetizers want a main course

I don’t think there’s a main course out there other than Ohtani, and I don’t see that happening at all.

I don’t think Maldonado cares at all about not playing as much. He was a backup in 2019 down the stretch after they traded for him

He's probably tired AF and wondering why FODB keeps making him play every fricking day

You’re probably right. I think he’s a team guy. My rant is not directed at him or anyone on this board. It’s for Dusty Baker and the media types who push this narrative.

Yeah that’s fair. I’ll wait to melt about it if Vazquez actually doesn’t play. I have a feeling he sees 60/70% of the time down the stretch and most all of it in October

Maldy looks like an All-Star compared to Castro and Lee.

Agree. Dusty has no clue and Maldy has developed a cult following among media and some fans.

You could tell Dusty was completely out of the loop on these trades in that dugout interview last night. “I have no idea.” “I don’t know.” That’s the kind of mindset we all want from our skipper.
