Did THIS organization actually acquire a catcher worth a damn? Wow.......

Cluck says we're not finished dealing.....who else do we get?

Oh- and geez Tucker and Pena are horrible right now. Need them to snap out of it!

Good thing they made some moves yesterday, distracted from a very bad loss

Excited to see how centerfield is addressed. Still have a lot of pieces to work with to get deals done

The cupboard is still full, if they aren't done dealing.

Just don't trade away another SP unless it's for a big time impact player.

Mancini
Vasquez
Will Smith

1B
C
LHP

So they've addressed 3 needs, gotta think another LHP for the bullpen and then just depth

Need an OF bat more than anything. Or 1B if they think Mancini can play a passable LF.

Vasquez and Mancini can play 1B along with Yuli, would figure those 3 would rotate and let Mancini play OF/DH

If they are adding bullpen I don’t think they worry about handedness, they are going to get the most dynamic arm. Stanek, Neris, Maton are all really good against LHB and hopefully Smith can settle in a 6th inning/hey get this one guy to end the inning role

Still convinced Mancini might be the LF add with probable news of Brantley being shut down for the year. They have the flexibility to add impact bats, which I’m definitely hoping for but don’t see as likely (Bell and Happ) or just adding a warm body who is going to produce more than Chas/Jake

What’s the lineup going to look like tonight? Will Vasquez catch or does he need more time to work with our pitchers or avoid the awkwardness of facing his old team? Mancini gonna see action at either 1b or OF?

I would expect Mancini in the lineup and Vazquez out.

Yea Mancini probably in LF with Al having to play 3B bc Breg on leave.

They might be trying to get an off day for Yed or Yuli, so I could see Vasquez at 1B or DH today. Also wouldn’t be mad at Pena getting a reset day

I expect Maldonado to catch until the lineup card says otherwise.

Click did alright by my estimation yesterday. The Odorizzi deal is meh but not bad overall.

Salary dump more than anything. I guess no one was really wanting him enough to send prospects.

I don't get why so many in the DAT are shocked that we didn't get more for Stinky. Y'all all know that he was either really good or really bad. Way too inconsistent.
Playoff teams needing starting pitching were worried about the really bad. I think the Astros are glad to see him go. He never looked like he really fit.

And yes, good to get rid of his salary.

@JeffPassan

The deal sending right-handed starter Jake Odorizzi to Atlanta and left-handed reliever Will Smith to Houston is done, a source tells ESPN.

Trading inconsistent for an absolute dumpster fire that by all accounts was about to be DFA'd apparently, is not a good deal on paper.

If you are just wanting to rid him go try and find a lottery ticket prospect from someone.

I think we might have been able to get more for him if we were not a playoff team. No playoff team was about to really help us out.

His value is purely as another arm for a thin pitching staff for a playoff team. He does nothing for teams who's season is already over.

These are solid trades. Definitely putting a lot in this year to win it all

Seems the money would be the same

Ordozzi owed 1.75m for the rest of the season but gets 1m for each 110,120,130,140 innings pitched (he is at 60) and then the 3m for making 30 starts added to his player option/buyout (has 29) if I read that correctly

Smith is owed 4.6m for the rest of the season and a 1m buyout for next

Astros saved themselves the 6.5m buyout for sure though

Solid, yes.....But enough to win a WS? I still think we need another bat....especially if Brantley is done.
