He was taking piped FBs for first strikes while squatting down hoping it was a ball

He's lost a bunch of coin tosses in a row to the point where he is lost and second guessing.

We've seen it before, just never for this long.

Gamblers get to where they have a bad run, and finally decide to bet against themselves. And it works initially.

Until they can't remember who they really liked to begin with and wonder if they aren't picking the other side.

My money is on Tuve getting hot at the right time.

He will figure it out at some point, he’s just too good. Gotta hope it’s end of September into October like you said and his struggles don’t cost them too much in the meantime

It is absolutely brutal to watch him right now

Here's what he saw yesterday:

2nd inning:
FB down middle, hit hard to second base

5th inning:
Slider down middle, good swing, hooked way foul
Slider down and away out of the zone, swinging strike
Slider down and away out of the zone, swinging strike

7th inning:
Fastball up and in, ball
Fastball down the middle, groundout chopper to third

10th inning:
Slider down and away out of the zone, swinging strike
Slider down and away out of the zone, swinging strike
Slider down and away out of the zone, taken for a ball
Slider inside, popped up to first base

Swung on 8 of 10 pitches. 3 were in the zone.

2 games ago

1st inning:
Curveball outside, taken for ball
fastball outside off the plate, grounded to pitcher

4th inning:
Curveball inside out of the zone, swinging strike
Fastball down the middle, bunted back to pitcher

6th inning:
Slider inside out of the zone, swinging strike
Fastball low in the zone, fouled off
Fastball down the middle, swinging strike

8th inning:
Fastball high of out of the zone, popped to third

Swung on 7 of the 8 pitches, 3 were in the zone

He's applying no pressure to the pitcher. He's looking fastball and just trying to crush it.. and for the most part, he's not going to get that pitch.

That Josh Bell rumor is sounding better and better.

If not, at least they have a spot to stick Brantley while the quad is healing up.

If they're going to burn prospect capital I'd rather get a bullpen piece under control in 2021, and bring Yuli back.

I'm dead opposite. Our techy organization can really develop pitching but not so much hitting. We have impressive depth of arms right now when the season would be over already otherwise.

If we can trade some assets for affordable and controllable bats who are proven, do it. Sure, a late-inning bullpen stud would be nice but we need more offense now and the next couple of years.

Just inquiries made on Bell and Edwin Diaz. Nothing more, yet.

Yeah there’s really no such thing as a sure thing bullpen arm. They can go to shite overnight. I’d much rather roll with what we have and maybe some very low cost vet signings this offseason and invest in the lineup and/or rotation.

Some of the guys we are starting could slot into the pen next year anyways with better health and an addition

Sorry about Alvarez, dude is a beast and I said as much last year when the Yankees faced him. Dude is a straight talent when healthy. Hopefully it passes and he can be ready for next season.

Why trade Tucker when he's clearly on the verge of a big breakout?

By breakout, I mean acne.

His swing isn't off. His mental approach is what is broken. He has no pitch recognition, no patience, and no ability to control when and when he does not swing.

I think this will be a longer than normal, "what the frick are you doing jose?" slump.

I think he needs the fun. Jose and George feed on the crowd and the fun. Bregman does as well, but he seems to have it together a bit more now. They need to find that loose, fun clubhouse that is the Astro's trademark. He's trying too hard! He's not playing with the joy that he always has.

He doesn’t need knees fo be a damn DH. He could get them replaced and still mash

This! Just hit the damn ball really hard and get RBI's. If you hit a homer, just walk the bases.

Lots of stories from anonymous sources reporting a lot of Astros "stars" unhappy right now because of all of the cheating allegations. Although no one has dropped a name so real validity
