Only the Centaur, half man half amazing, can save us from the doom and gloom of some DAT posters

Let's get a streak going.

Id love for the centaur to get some more time behind the plate this week. He's been on a heater while in the majors this year. You never walk away from the table while you're on a heater

Julia is our mermaid, I like it!

Great article on how prolific our offense has been

Jose Altuve, 175
Aaron Judge, 171
George Springer, 167
Carlos Correa, 166
Marwin Gonzalez, 165
Those are the OPS+ leaders among all qualified major leaguers. If Aaron Judge knocks off a 1-for-16 stretch, the Astros might arguably have the four best hitters in baseball this year.

As disappointed as I have been about the front office situation, Sunday's win felt great, and I'm looking forward to Keuchel getting back on track, but he really is the least of my pitching concerns come playoff time.

Who is the most of your concerns for SP come playoff time? McCullers? Fiers? Morton?
For relief I'm guessing Sipp, Liriano, Hoyt? Martes?

Makes me nervous...

Just got finished catching up on the last thread. Just want to point out something. Those of you who think we will keep the core together are going to be VERY disappointed in a few years. No team can afford
Correa
Altuve
Springer
DK
Lance
I'm betting we keep 3 or 4 but not all 5. I didn't include Gonzalez because he will go somewhere where he can play the same position everyday. You can down vote me but this is the truth.
Just enjoy the next few years that we have all the guys together. We will be fine.

We're not keeping Keuchel unless he comes at a great discount due to continued injuries. And we shouldn't pay someone who lacks great stuff and keeps getting hurt.
McCullers is so injury prone and far off from free agency, it's not even worth thinking about.
As for the Big 3, you keep Altuve for sure and figure out the rest when it comes after that.

You can do it. You should do it. Whether or not they WILL do it is the question. Crane may end up being a great owner but he seems more concerned with profit and bottomline than Drayton was. Drayton spent money, sometime foolishly. I hope Crane will be smart enough to know that the players he has now are hard to come by.

Yep I said a couple of days ago I see him as a guy who's going to hit the open market and find out other teams don't value his skill set as much a stretch the Astros.

agreed, Springer is a good as gone, IMO. He will be A red sox given he probably grew up a fan and they will pay.
I like to believe they will make a legit run at Correa

My favorite part of that article:
quote:
Naturally, they lead the majors in runs: If they get shut out in their final 51 games, they will still score more runs than 72 teams have scored this decade, including the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 Astros.

Yeah,
I said last night that out of the 5 we'll end up with Altuve, Correa and LMJ.
Keuchel will chase some money, and frankly I'd be a little upset if the Stros gave him a huge contract
Not Sure if Springer goes to the Red Sox, they're outfield seems pretty set for awhile with Betts, Bradley and Benintendi, but who knows.
At this time, LMJ won't really command much money, too inconsistent. But, a lot can change in 3 years.

Keuchel needs to get us back on track and give us a win ya dig???
Posted on 8/8/17 at 10:26 am to texastiger38
I want no part of an expensive long term deal for Keuchel
It sucks the days of cheapo extensions like McCutchen and Longoria got are over and agents have gotten smarter. Like 10 years ago we may have Springer locked up into his FA years already
Good on him for betting on himself though and not signing the extension

I'm not sure this is a reasonable assumption, based on the fact that the Sox currently have 3 good young outfielders, who they would like to keep. Their guys are due to be paid around when Springer is. That doesn't mean he's ours to keep, obviously.
Similar situation with Correa and the Yanks. It's very possible that in a few years Manny Machado and Gleyber Torres are the left side of the Yankees' infield. Doesn't mean Correa stays but to assume all our guys already have their next team picked out for 2021 is a little ridiculous, no?

You guys sure make it hard to enjoy these threads lately.
FO sucks
Back to being cheap after FO shows they will spend money on FAs
Dismantling the team 3 years ahead of time
Playoffs are already lost
Season over
These are all facts, not opinions, of course.
