Team batting average .233. How long is winning sustainable with that crap?

If you were to tell me at the start of the season that the team BA was third to last in the MLB, also would have 30 wins and best record in the AL, I would have said you were absolutely crazy.

What's kind of interesting though is that as we all know Luhnow is a sabermetrics guy, and when you sort by advanced stats, they are in the top half of all of them. So I guess they are performing the way the team is constructed.

Whoa. Don't bring in advanced stats, Lester won't know what to do with himself. Stick to BA.

I'm just enjoying the hell out of this, with the knowledge that this team is only going to get better.

Me too. Really good timing on Root Sports coming into existence to be able to actually watch the good times so far.

What is interesting is how so far Luhnow's plan seems to be actually working. BA not as important as more advanced stats is new to a lot of people, including me. Glad to see that he is not just full of BS.

As long as we keep hitting bombs and get timely hits we will be fine

Anyone know how many games we've won in which we didn't hit a HR? Yesterday is one.

Harold Reynolds said last night that Houston has been exposed of the HR ball and that's how they're going to get beat and come back down to earth.

The interesting part to me about our approach is the stolen bases. Not sure if that was part of the plan but it's a huge x factor in how we score runs, the early sabermetrics kind of wrote the stolen base off

Yes the stolen bases are huge. It really fricks up the defense and puts tons of pressure on the pitcher, catcher and fielders. Tons of errors and bad throws and pitching mistakes due to the runners on base at different points in quite a few games so far this year.

The problem is everyone in the lineup can hit the ball out of the park. And 5 out of 9 guys are pretty much swinging for the fences every at bat. That can be bad at times, but it also can be very helpful. I just don't see all 9 slumping at the same time.

basically you have 2 guys that steal bases. With Marisnick playing like a AAAA again. You gotta get on base to steal bases.

Marisnick has really tailed off. I didn't expect him to stay that hot, but he has really not done much in the last few weeks.

Everybody needs to get some perspective here.

There is way too much, "oh this guy had a bad couple of weeks. Let's make him part of a trade package."

And if everyone will remember, we said during the ENTIRE offseason that Marisnick's primary role on this team was to play excellent defense. Anything we get at the plate is a bonus. Well we got a big bonus for the first six weeks of the season. We just need to sit back and enjoy these guys for what they are...and that's a Damn good baseball team that goes through ups and downs just like any other team.

Sure. I don't want to trade anyone though. I was just commenting on how he has been slumping is all. I truly do not want to trade anyone at this point, especially Marisnick.
