After the Astros won their 30th game of the season last night. I went back to check on my long pick-and-choose-stats-to-justify-my-prediction post -- I had originally predicted a somewhat bourbon influenced 86 - 76 record.

How's it looking?

My Maker's 46 prediction of the first two months of the season:
quote:

Stats from 2014:
Astros were 9-19 in April. During that time, the SP was just awful, of the 19 losses, only 2 were blown saves and 3 were Walk-off wins by the opposition. So, of the remaining 13 losses, if the SP does it job, I see them picking up 5 games over their 2014 April (3 losses by Harrell and 2 each by Peacock and Cosart, I'm splitting the losses for Peacock and Cosart. Harrell was garbage and I'm choosing to believe we would've won every one of his shitty losses. This is my made up analysis so there.) Notice, fewer games this April so the numbers don't exactly add up from last season to my predictions.

FCU prediction for April record 2015: 11 - 11.

Astros were 15-14 in May. They get 4 more L's by the Peacock/Cosart duo, so added a +2 for those games. They went 4-6 in 1 run games during the month. I'll even that out and take a +1 (due to better BP to start this season). Finally, they ended the month with a season high 7 game win streak... not sure I like that anomolly, so I'll take a -4 on that.

Prediction for May 2015 record will be 14-15.

And looking ahead to June:
quote:

Astros were 12-15 in June 2014. The Astros were shut out 5 times in June. I don't like that anomolly (whatever, it's my BS analysis) so I say we get a +2 there. Nothing else sticks out that I can cherry-pick here so I will point out that Jerome Williams had two BS during the month. He's gone, we get an extra win.

Prediction for June, 2015 record will be 15-14.

ETA: And yes, Ryno, I know your prediction was for a division winner. I hope I have to buy you that playoff ticket.

LE in a Rangers thread reminding us that Houston sucks.

So he's now been in 2 different threads in the last couple weeks that he's derailed to let us know that Houston will end up in last in the west.

There's no sense arguing with that dude. He's convinced we are playing over our heads even though most of our guys are not hitting as well as they usually do, which makes no sense. Just don't take his bait

I called your prediction handsomely optimistic.

While we all know LE is just a troll and can't wait for Houston to fail so he can troll and troll some more....

I think this article hits the nail on the head. To me, it does anyway....
LINK

If it falls apart, I wouldn't be surprised. Don't get me wrong, but the longer it goes, the more you have to believe in what they're doing.

But you know, the Astros are terrible and the A's are #1 and Deshields is a HoF. I don't want to bring up the fact that Springer and Bryant have al m OST identical numbers in may, but he will immediately turn to Springer UConn Soph. year numbers and wRC+-

I wish people would stop feeding that guy. He seems to be some low-level ESPN staffer -- there to pull out whatever stats he wants to justify pushing the ESPN agenda of the day.

He's as knowledgable about sports as any other person on this site, yet in his mind he is an authority on everything.

wait.

TigerRyno is Lester Earl???

Seriously, just ignore the dude. I've grown to feel sorry for him really. Seems like the tops of his week is when he can get a reply to his gibberish.

It's us against the world and I love it. I think the teams is embracing it as well. They will continue to prove people wrong.

Yeah I just try to not reply to him. The talk always centers on the team BA but then he will cite the OPS of guys like DeShields to make his point. It's impossible to argue when the goalposts are always on the move

Stros are 15-10 in May with 4 to go.

That's another winning month.

You're making shite up now.

BA and OBP have some correlation. OBP is the better stat when compared head to head.

astros as a team BA(bad), OBP (bad), SLG(good).
