I wouldn't hate him in long relief or as a spot starter

He's 37 years old I can't see him having any role. He likely gets released before the season starts and then retires.

It's not like he ever threw real hard. Plenty of pitchers last deep into their 30s.

AJ Reed #1 1B prospect in MLB
quote:

1. A.J. Reed, Astros
Reed had a spectacular first full season as a pro, leading the Minors in runs (113), homers (34), RBIs (127), total bases (320), slugging (.612) and OPS (1.044) while winning the Class A Advanced California League MVP Award and continuing to mash following a promotion to Double-A. With his penchant for making consistent hard contact and waiting out pitchers reluctant to challenge him, Reed could claim Houston's first-base job as soon as he proves he can hit advanced left-handers.

We haven't been short on highly regarded first base prospects lately. Brett Wallace was highly regarded (although he wasn't the top 1B prospect), Jon Singleton was the top 1B prospect for a year or 2. Lets hope AJ pans out better.

Both Wallace and Singleton came with red flags. Can't say the same about AJ.

We need a top catching prospect.

Our system is weak at catcher in terms of real major league potential.

Hopefully the blue batting jerseys will get back in the rotation.

Alright, so it's the batting practice navy blue with the rainbow on the side. Instead of the H star on the side, ASTROS, like the other alternates, is printed across the front.

Love those
