For frick's sake, I have more confidence in Flying J-Simms right now.

HE came up so big last night.

He guarded Harden 6 times, 1 missed shot and 5 turnovers were the results.

All they gotta do is shoot average the next two games to beat this Spurs team. Heck they were under their average last game and damn near won on the road. It is not all that tall a task to send these Spurs home.

Their shooting percentage thus far says that shooting average (which would be above their current percentage) for two consecutive games is unlikely.

Is shooting percentage one of those metrics that you don't put much stock in?

that same argument can be made both ways...

rockets last night:
38/86 (44.2) -> 46.2% (39.7)
16/48 (33.3) -> 35.7% (17.1)
15/21 (71.4) -> 76.6% (16.1)
scored 107 -> 112.6

Spurs last night:
42/103 (40.8) -> 46.9% (48.3)
11/33 (33.3) -> 39.1% (12.9)
15/23 (65.2) -> 79.7% (18.3)
scored: 110 -> 127.8

welp...there goes that argument.

Real talk basketball discussion here Boom. The Rockets are facing some tough decisions moving forward. On one hand the Harden/Anderson pick and pop is one of the hardest things to guard for the Spurs. On the other hand when Anderson is on the floor for Houston their defense suffers. D'Antoni even got mad at one point and said "Go get him" after a defensive lapse. Does D'Antoni give up offense and spacing for defense or vice versa?

that's no excuse. It's poking fun at the pop is perfect casual fan types. He got tons of help on staff and still makes rookie moves aplenty.

Oh and gets outcoached by rookie coaches in the playoffs too.

Rockets had the 3rd best record in the NBA and the Spurs the 2nd best record. And they're playing each other right now. And the series isn't over. Far from mediocre.

Being third best in the conference means you get eliminated in the second round. That's the definition of mediocre.

The fact that the series isn't over has nothing to do with my statement. You pretty much said the Spurs are always good so why should I be embarrassed that they always beat us?

I simply gave you an answer. A championship caliber team would be embarrassed if they consistently got beat by any team. The fact that the Spurs aren't even the best team in the conference just makes it even worse.

There's no guarantee that they fall next game either. They take a lot of threes but they're not really that good at making them. Houston was middle of the pack in three point percentage in the regular season, and they're a little worse than that in the playoffs. Maybe they shouldn't be so reliant on a shot that they really don't make at an exceptional clip.
Because they take so many, they are taking more difficult 3's than most teams. That's why their percentage is where it is.

It's by design.

I suggest you read this article as it is a wealth of information:

The original article is from the Wall Street Journal, but it's behind a pay wall. You can read the article here though:

He really came into his own last night (although he still can't shoot worth a damn)

Harden had words for him late in the 4th, it seemed heated. After that he really stepped up. Kind of guy that can feed off a spark like that.

Billy D may be a "rookie" NBA coach but the dude won 2 NCAA championships. He's one of the better coaches in the league. Also he had 2 of the top 5 players in the league on his team bro. From a talent standpoint only two teams were better than OKC last year. GS and Cle

So, all they gotta do TWICE is something they've done 30% of the time against the Spurs this season in 10 games?

That's all they gotta do.

I get the design. I just think it's a faulty design not made for the postseason where the sample size is smaller and defense is tougher.

In the regular season when the sample size is larger, a bad run is negated by a hot run and it creates an illusion that this is a highly prolific team.

The rotation is likely gonna be the same. You may get 5-6 min from decker. They really only need those 7 guys to win this series. Game was very very winnable last night it coles down to making shots more than anything.

I'd love to see the average distance of the 3's Anderson is taking. He's in the damn parking garage on some of them.

Pop goes from GOAT to losing to an inferior coach for the third straight year based on whether CC makes wide open threes. That's what it comes down to. I'm banking on CC being average or better and winning he next two.
