The hit was not intentional. Receiver was wrapped up, but still moving forward. Travathon was already committed before Adams lowered his head. All of you who say the Travathon was aiming for his head have obviously never played football and what's wrong with the targeting rule. At some point it's not the defenders fault. He's committed and aimed at the chest when the offensive player moves his head and there is nothing the defender can do about it.

With that said, there is no excise for Travathon lowering his head and going in with the crown of the helmet. The hit was dirty, but he wansnt aiming at his head.

do you really not see the difference between him trying to deliver a death blow and him just running and tapping him?
Yeah, one could knock him over ending the play and the other could not.

and his momentum was clearly stopped and he was clearly a defenseless player who was in no threat to make a play
Then the play should've been blown dead

no. he still gets flagged and people are talking about how dirty this hit was every single time tonight. this was pretty blatant and i dont understand how anyone could argue otherwise
Because you can't regulate how hard someone hits. They have to run to the ball-carrier fast. You're dampering their ability to play the game at a basic level

I disagree. That play was active. You see later hits than that on pretty much any given series.

and there was no reason for him to even come in and try to deliver a monster hit. he shouldnt have even been in that situation

It's funny to see football fans in complete hysteria when for a split second they see actual football

Guys get knocked out cold in totally accidental collisions. It should be about intent. The angle he took was for the shoulder, the guy got turned and lowered at the last second. It was however a hard hit, and his helmet was lowered though I'm not sure facemask to facemask would've been any better

You're a moron. The end.

You seem like you have a real problem with opinions that are different from yours. Not a great quality.

The play was 100% still going. He had just she'd a tackler and had literally just been wrapped up when Travathon entered the tackling position. He wasn't defenseless and he wasn't wrapped up. He was still a ball carrier.

The hit was dirty, he went in with the crown of his helmet, but y'all are over reacting bit time. He wasn't aiming for his head and Adams wasn't defenseless when he launched for the tackle.

A linebacker who follows your advice and jogs in at 3/4 speed to deliver a nice tap to a guy trying to break a tackle would never see the field because that is terrible football

he was wrapped up by the defender and being pushed back. he was pushed back by a step or two. if trevathon comes in and wraps him up, nothing happens, maybe a little grumbling about the hit being late at the worst

. He wasn't aiming for his head
not really commenting on this because its tough for defensive players when offensive players can all of a sudden switch their head angle
quote:

Adams wasn't defenseless when he launched for the tackle.
and this i do disagree with

Read the reactions on this board, from the media, on Twitter from other football players. You'll see you're in the extreme minority. Having an opinion doesn't mean you're automatically right. You're actually quite wrong, and dumb to boot. The fine and suspension coming will prove that. Look up the Dunning-Kruger effect and accept that it applies to you. Trust us.

All ball carriers are defenseless. That's what blockers are for. Momentum stopped should be a blown dead play. That's on the referee.
