Dwyane Wade and the Heat are reportedly at an early impasse on his contract negotiations. Wade reportedly wants to opt out of his contract this summer, with the hope of landing a lucrative three-year deal with Miami. However, the Heat would prefer he opts in to his $16 million deal and then signs a good, but not huge amount of money in 2016. There's reportedly a "sizable gap" on what Wade hopes to earn and what the Heat are prepared to offer, and Wade is reportedly now open to considering other teams this summer if Miami doesn't present him with a number to his liking. This will be a very interesting story to watch develop over the course of the offseason.

33 years old and injury prone and wants a "lucrative" three year deal. Good luck finding that anywhere.

Also, never realized he spelled in Dwyane..

On a serious note, he could go play for the Bucks, be sort of close to his roots, and be a good player on an up-and-coming team with a hot owner's daughter.

Was misspelled on his birth certificate, and they never changed it.

I agree he'll find his market limited.

It just sounds like he doesn't expect to take a Pierce-style role when anyone approaching him in FA would be expecting that.

Which is why Paul Pierce is awesome.

He should go to the Clippers next season. Pierce, I mean.

Didn't wade opt out of his contract last year to take less money? Everyone assumed the Heat would make it up to him, seems like he's just forcing the issue. No way the Heat will let him leave.

Wade is definitely one of those players who can't except that he's becoming irrelevant. His body is destroyed.

In fairness, even being injury prone, Wade is so much better than Pierce.

3/$48 is Wade's asking price(ETA: I think I read the OP wrong)? I'm sure multiple teams would easily give him that deal.

But in the end, I'm guessing him and the Heat will come to terms eventually.

There's a few exit ramps between top 5/elite and irrelevant.

It's silly to think he's irrelevant.
