I got to thinking about former players that have come and gone from my favorite team, and I wondered what a lineup of them would look like if I stacked them all together. Here is my one-game lineup for former Detroit Tigers' players who are still in the league. Essentially - (An exercise in futility)

.........................….............
Former Detroit Tigers Lineup
1) CF - Austin Jackson. (Currently hurt - can sub Rajai Davis).
2) RF - Curtis Granderson.
3) LF - Yoenis Cespedes.
4) DH - Prince Fielder
5) SS - Johnny Peralta.
6) 2B - Omar Infante (free agent - can sub Eugenio Suarez here.
7) C - Alex Avila.
8) 1B - Jefry Marte.
9) 3B - Hernan Perez.
SP - Max Scherzer.
Relievers (7th inning) - Joaquin Benoit.
(8th inning) - Joakim Soria.
(Closer) - Fernando Rodney.

.........................................................

What do you think? Can you make an all-star team from the players your team lost?

I don't know who exactly would be on the team but the Red Sox would have a pretty good lineup.

All I know for sure is my favorite Sox free agent pickup evrr is back at the hot corner. Beltre

Gonzalez back at first. Hanley either outfield or bench. Ellsbury Betts JBJ outfield. Nothing falls. Haven't had a stud catcher since Tek. So probably going Vazquez for defense or Salty for shits and giggles.

Rangers:

P - Yu Darvish, Cole Hamels, Edison Volquez, Colby Lewis, RA Dickey,
C - Pierzynski or Saltalamacchia (not sure if they're still in the league, Texas hasn't had great catchers)
1B - Mark Teixiera, Chris Davis, Mike Napoli
2B - Ian Kinsler, Rougned Odor, Jurickson Profar
3B - Adrian Beltre, Joey Gallo
SS - Alex Rodriguez, Elvis Andrus
LF - Josh Hamilton, David Murphy
CF - Ian Desmond, Andruw Jones
RF - Nelson Cruz, Shin Soo Choo, Alex Rios
DH - Prince Fielder
RP - Joaquin Benoit,
CP - Neftali Feliz, Joaquim Soria,

Rangers would have a very nasty lineup outside of catcher:

Lead Off:
Kinsler

Next 7 in whatever order you want because it wouldn't matter. Absolutely unfair.
Beltre
Fielder
A-Rod
Teixiera
Hamilton
Cruz
Desmond

And then
Pierzynski

With Darvish or Hamels pitching.

120 win team.

Misread directions. Thought it was just active players including former players. Still have one hell of a team without the current Rangers.

A-Rod
Tex
Kinsler
Chris Davis
Nelson Cruz
Pierzynski
Andruw Jones
David Murphy

is still nasty. I can't think of a former 3rd baseman that's still active. Went from Michael Young forever to Beltre.

Andruw Jones hasn't had an MLB AB in like 5 years

That may be, but he's listed as an active player still.

Leonys Martin is a better option than some dude who's probably been eating ding dongs on his couch since 2012 IYAM, it's your squad though

Pierzynski

39 yrs old. still active with Atlanta.
He's my kinda guy.
It will be interesting to see if he just goes off into the sunset or needs to manage in class D and try to get a job in the majors some day.

I think you could fit Carlos Beltran in there as well, he's still producing at age 39.

For SPs, Vincent Velazquez and Scott Kazmir, maybe Bud Norris... Astros don't have much of a rotation in this exercise.
