I did but I also went to New York and 5exas to watch Yankees games, along with Boston later in life. Helped that my dad and grandfather were both Yankee fans as well.
WGN would have made me a Cubs or White Sox fan, TBS a Braves fan...

Just left Cooperstown. He's a good family friend. I was a little let down by the Hall itself, but it was still a fun trip

I agree Craig is a compiler. I also agree he is Hall worthy.
What do you associate Biggio with? Power? Great bat? Slick fielding? Speed?
He was a damn good all around player, but as pointed out, I don't think he deserved a First Ballot entry.
And Jeter hit a walk off home run against the Dbacks in November...that wasn't a blown call.

Baseball plays? Baseball plays are primarily defensive, and you're talking about a mediocre defensive shortstop.
Using "signature plays" as a criteria would make a guy like Robert Horry a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Give me a Barry Bonds(yes he's a HoFer) signature play.Or a Cal Ripken play.
Alomar had signature plays, all defensive.
Griffey had a signature plays, mostly defensive.
Chipper doesn't have signature plays and he's a superior player to Jeter.
Home Runs can be signature plays in big moments, but the team has to get there. The Baseball Hall of Fame is mostly about numbers.
Jeter's numbers aren't good enough to get him in the first ballot.
Rivera is the only one of the 90s Yankees that deserves first ballot status. Hell he was the primary reason they won so many titles.

I lived Rivera but no, he accounted for such a small percentage of innings he was not the reason they have the titles. In fact he blew several opportunities for the Yankees as he saved some as well. The early Yankees teams had Rivera in the set up role.
Jeters defense is overrated by gold glove standards but thoughtout his career he was an average defensive player. He didn't hurt the Yankees (-9.5 wins over course of 20 years) and he didn't help the Yankees. He has several iconic defensive plays the dive and the flip being two... also home run against O's, home run against D-Bscks, etc.

I normally go to baseball reference in general out of laziness (it's normally near the top of a Google search), unless I'm looking to get deep on a player as I like (not necessarily trust more) the fangraphs amount of information.

I use both but everything differs so wildly...
I've seen (as in this case) 10,20,30 point differences in defensive war for players. Offensive war seems closer across sites but defensive war is all over the place.

6th all time in hits, only Rose, Cobb, Aaron, Speaker and Musial have more hits. Jeter played fewer years than all of them.

Well they both played 20 years, you remove the years they played less than 100 Jeter has 18 years and Biggio 19 (Jeter missed a year due to injury, both played less than 50 games rookie year)

I'm talking about the fact that he's 6th in hits all-time. You don't get there without longevity.
There aren't too many guys that could get in while playing the minimum ten years (I believe) to be considered for the Hall.

You would have to average 315 hits a season, so safe to assume no one would get there in 10 years
