I've been wondering why don't the NFL players vote demaurice smith out and try to recruit fehr to lead their union? People who follow MLB know how good he was as an executive director and his role in the 94 strike. I think the best chance for a good cba for NFL players such as a soft cap / gtd contracts would come under this mans leadership

No because he is working for the NHLPA. The NFLPA is stuck with Smith, but who is light years ahead of Upshaw.

Why would they entice Fehr to come work for them? The players made Smith Executive Director for a second term unanimously. The players like Smith, their "union" though is weak.

Cause fehr actually knows how to lead a union and get guys unified for a cause. All demaurice smith does is waste money fighting goodell over shite they can't win ie deflategate. Under his leadership they gave goodell all his disciplinary power

Has Fehr actually done anything from the NHLPA? From what I understand, the NHL had a lockout because Fehr refused to negotiate with the NHL until the last minute, and they later ended up signing a new CBA with little change from the NHL owners original demands. So basically, the NHL players lost two months pay or however long they were locked out for very little gain.

You're only as good as your union's ability to withstand a lockout or engage in a strike. Given the brevity of NFL careers and the relatively low salaries, it is a unique challenge in negotiations for that association.

If the players would actually save money, they'd be so much better off. As bad as I feel for them, they can't go a quarter season without a paycheck.

Average NFL player today makes more than average MLB player in 1994 or NHL player in 05.

Not when you consider inflation and MLB players' average career length is almost twice as long as the average NFL player. Also, when comparing apples to apples, MLB players have made about three times more on average than NFL players in a given year.

I don't really give a shite about the NHL.
