our group has slowly moved away from playing CM, for the money and course conditions I think BC is a better value than anything in the BR area. I live in pelican point and I think the rates are overpriced for the links course and are stupid "for the get ready to get screwed" 9 hole course formerly the lake course. A few of us had memberships to the island for about $100 - which was a pretty good deal.

They still have the Tiger National hats in the pro shop? Been wanting to snag one of those.

Playing there on Saturday.

It's been a while since I've played it, though.

I hate that par 5 where you have to nearly layup with the trash area.

Play it from the tips and it's Driver, 4iron. Playing up you can get greedy with a driver or 3w and have 6iron in...

The entire back 9 just kills me, but especially the two par 5s (#12 and #14) besides #18.

I've driven several into the shite on some bombs.

Occasionally I'll hit it up the right side and get it clear.

ETA: what are y'alls opinions on the Island? I played there once and really enjoyed it.

Love the Island. Haven't played in a couple of years. It's got a few bland holes, but 2, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 18 are some of the best designed golf holes in Louisiana. Played there a few times when the greens were insane fast. Wish it was 30 minutes closer to where I live.

I can't comprehend how substandard Baton Rouge area courses get away with charging $60 green fees. Unreal.

The entire BR public golf scene is sad. The only places even worth playing are santa maria and beaver creek

Greystone

Needs a good chipping green with a couple of good greenside bunkers. They have a really nice putting green behind the grill, but they should improve their practice bunker.

I agree that Beaver Creek has a great practice facility.

They had a print out posted on the door advertising their big 2 man scramble this past weekend. It said Saturday Feb. 1st 2013. So instead of printing a new one, they scratched out the 13 and wrote 14 lol, wtf?

to be honest I am not sure how to fix it? If you are a serious player you are basically forced to join a club. I have been lucky to be members of a couple places, but if not there really aren't great places to play and practice.
