Anyone follow lacrosse in Louisiana or around the country? I know it's a growing sport but if you've never watched it you should give it a shot!

Inside Lacrosse has a real nice preview issue if you can find it. I'm curious about the new conferences and realignment.

But I'm real concerned about my Terps this year. Who can score on this team? And will their goalie get healthy in time?

I play for my HS in Louisiana and I follow college lacrosse. Definitely one of the most fun sports I've ever played. Combination of alot of different sports, most people I know that have watched one of our games said they really enjoyed it. It has a little something for everyone.

Do you play for Lafayette Tiger? I play for Shreve up north. We've got Southlake Carroll for our season opener on Saturday. :
And Baloo, Maryland is looking pretty good this year, but I'm thinking either them or Cornell has a chance to make a pretty big impact this year.

I think Cornell's window is closing. Maryland plays that super slow defensive style which can keep them in any game. But I am worried about the offense. But the defense should be stout, even by Terp standards.

As long as Duke loses, I'm happy.

I wonder if it has a chance to become the 5th most popular team sport in the country over the next two or three decades.

Duke's yet to join the Seven (I think it's 7). Only seven schools have ever won a lacrosse national title. Obviously, for the sport to expand, this needs to change.

Yeah, I think it's 3 of the 4 ACC schools, JHU, Princeton, Cornell, and the perpetual villains in Syracuse. However, the top 7 or 8 programs are all pretty competitive now, and while the first round of the tournament is predictable, it's pretty tight from that point forward.

I mean Duke lost by 1 goal in 2 finals and 1 semifinal in the last 5 years (last year's blowout against the Orange Blobs not included). While other games are not always such nail biters, the games are still getting closer.

I don't think Cornell has ever won a title. Could be wrong.

The tourney is gettting better as upsets are becoming more commmon and there are lots of one-year wonders (Georgetown, UMBC, Navy, Denver) though things get all ordered by the Final Four.

Typical FF: Syracuse and Hopkins play party crasher and team from the ACC or Ivy. Among Cuse/Hop, the team playing the party crasher will win and the one playing the ACC/Ivy team will lose. Everyone gets excited that ACC/Ivy team will upset JHU and Cuse. It does not happen. JHU or Cuse wins the title.

I just looked it up here

Cornell won three, but they were in the '70s, just like Maryland's titles.

However, you are right about how the Final 4 usually plays out. Hopefully it will change this year.

Wow, I didn't realize BR had high school lacrosse. I thought it was just in Shreveport.

Several members of my family went to Hopkins so naturally I cheer for the Blue Jays. It's a great sport and I enjoy watching it.

I saw the worst home loss in Hopkins history, I think. the Gait brothers scored about 10 goals each and Cuse beat Hop by 15 goals or so. Ugly game.
