Damn. The Pelicans have been trying to get approval from the league for something VERY similar apparently.

Now they will just look like copycats.

considering the only article mentioning a new Pels court said it would be "bold"... I'm guessing our proposed design is something a bit more than what CLE has here

Why would you want to remind people that you're in Cleveland?

China beat us to it...

and the international volleyball regulating agency... FIVB... will start using LED nets next year

quote:

Graca highlighted the introduction of a new LED net, due to debut in 2015, as the biggest innovation, adding that the new technology will have a huge impact on fan entertainment for indoor and beach versions of the game. The LED net can display messages, flags, logos, scores, sponsor branding, countdowns and refereeing decisions. The net itself is double sided, allowing independent messages on both sides, but its use will be restricted to between points to avoid affecting players during play.

I spoke to Michael Payne, one of the masterminds behind the LED concept, and the man that approached Graca with the idea only 12 months ago. Payne approached a number of sports and their leaders, but Graca was the one to act quickest, embracing the idea and supporting the development of a prototype LED net, which may well catch the eye of other sports once used by the FIVB to its full capacity.

There are like 3 or 4 cities that could get away with doing a skyline. Cleveland is not one of them. I like the idea and I'm sure people who live there will love it, but it looks like 3 buildings and a few houses

NOLA is definitely 1... One Shell Square, Superdome, CCC, St. Louis Cathedral, any kind of FQ building front

even throw a streetcar motoring about in front... which I think the SunBelt did for their conference tourney at UNO last year

Skylines on courts and basketball uniforms are becoming a cliche.
