Charlie Weis could earn $24.5 million from Notre Dame, Kansas while not coaching

quote:

According to the university's federal tax return, which ESPN obtained Monday, Notre Dame paid Weis $2.05 million from July 2013 through June 2014. According to ESPN, Weis has been paid that amount four prior times in addition to the $6.4 million he was initially paid after his firing. That creates a total of nearly $15 million he's been paid to not coach in South Bend, and it doesn't end there.

quote:

He's also still owed $5.63 million from Kansas after being fired from the school four games into his third season last year. So when you add together Kansas' money and Notre Dame's money, Weis could potentially earn $24.5 million while not working for either school.

For perspective, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly earned $1.2 million in total compensation in 2013, according to USA Today.

I think this is the first person who has ever started a thread about Charlie Weis on the MSB and spelled his name correctly.

Fat frick fraud coached Tom Brady and managed to convince all the dickheads in the national media he was a genius. I remember the ESPN slurping of him when he was at Notre Dame. "Charlie Weis started preparing for the USC game a year ago! He makes adjustments at halftime!"

That number sounds low, but I found this.

quote:

As in past years, Notre Dame's return notes that Kelly is permitted to receive compensation from sources outside the university "with prior written approval from the university" and that any such income is not reported on the return.

And Weis cleaned house

quote:

Notre Dame fired Weis in November 2009. According to the school's tax records, he received more than $6.6 million pay and severance in 2009. He subsequently has been paid nearly $8.4 million by Notre Dame from 2010 through 2013.

During that time, Weis also worked as an assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs and the University of Florida. In December 2011, he became the head coach at Kansas, which was paying him $2.5 a season until firing him in late September 2014 with more than $5.6 million owed him under that contract..

If he could have beaten opponents as well as he beat gastric bypass, he'd still be coaching.

Agreed....With Kansas for sure.....

He is a real good OC and that's it... Some guys just are not HC ready and never will be... ND took a shot at him BUT These people that give these stupid high contracts to these coaches and players are the fools...

Who knew that handing over the keys to one of the best cfb jobs to a guy with 0 hc experience could go wrong?
And thank GOD Kansas took him off of us.

Kansas should have fired him and told him to frick off no money for you when he openly admitted he was telling recruits his team was crap as some sort of fricked up recruiting pitch.

I remember watching a Big 12 game last year and they had an ad for the conference, which was a shot a football coach talking, then morphing into another conference coach.
Of course, the evil frickers who did the thing had to turn Kliff Kingsbury into Charlie Weis.
