Looks like he could be back playing for his club team in April. There is also news that Onyewu should be back training with Milan by mid February.

damn, I had all but written off Davies chances of making the WC squad...this is fricking great news.

Now just need Gooch and Dempsey to heal and get back in shape.

Gooch is set to return to training in Milan in February and probably will return to playing in April or late March.

Yuck. Amazing he could be back in time.

they aren't the greatest players the world has ever seen, but USA is simply a better team with Gooch and Charlie on the field

Excellent news about Davies. Looks like Onyewu's rehab is going according to plan so that is also good.

The biggest setback has been Jermaine Jones. The guy has been sidelined forever and has had numerous returns to practice that have lasted less than a week.

I would expect us to go into the WC without the service of Jones. He's been out far longer than any of those guys, and he doesn't even have chemistry with the team. He might have a max of 1 or 2 friendlies before the WC where he might be available.

yeah, but I'm not sure old Bob would play him anyway

What about the Mexican defender we're supposed to be getting? If he's any good, he could certainly get in the rotation.
I like the idea of getting Mexican players. What would it take to get Cuahtemoc in the RW&B?

Good for Charlie...I'm glad he's having such a speedy recovery. Although I think he'll be hard pressed to get back into match fitness by the WC.

Dempsey should be back by April...again it'll be hard to judge his fitness level until after he starts playing 90+ minutes at the EPL level.

I, for one, hate Cuahtemoc Blanco and many other mexican players because their playing style is terrible. They dive, whine, & flail around so much, but when there is a 50-50 ball, you better believe they will chop you down with the quickness.

I may be biased because I've played against many Hispanic players like that...it's their approach to the game. I hate it.

I think Jones could go. But we are strong in center mid.

Edu and Bradley could pair up, Torres and Bradley, Feilheiber and Bradley, Holden and Bradley. We have a TON of options there.

Dempsey is the key. He's our best player. Even if Davies is healthy, Dempsey should get time up top.
