I can see this, but what advantage does he get by going there... not nearly the talent that Cleveland has.... even if the Lakers land George.
I rate them by the advantage I get, the added entertainment factor.

quote:Eh. If LeBron and Jimmy Butler are pretty good friends, is it really petty and/or stupid for him to tell a friend to avoid CLE at all costs because it's a mess and he's leaving after next season?
Not only petty but just stupid for personal reasons. Lebron isn't going to just try and piss away next season even if he is leaving.

If Rondo hadn't broken his hand the bulls would have beaten the celtics in the playoffs. He's an idiot if he leaves.

Clippers banana boat party is the most entertaining option to me

That doesn't take away all of the turmoil of the regular season and the fact that the Bulls still looked stupid still thinking that they were a piece or two away from doing something big.

Well, he doesn't really have a choice in the matter.
Also, I don't get your point about Rondo. Bulls beat the Celtics, ok so Butler is an idiot for going to a team that guarantees a trip to the Finals as opposed to staying with a team that guarantees no trip to the Finals?

The Bulls barely made the playoffs

Without a doubt, unless of course he sees a better option for competing next year. Which could be the case.
Not any time of bash either, I think any player would be stupid to do that.
What other great options is Butler going to have, I guess you can make the argument about going to Boston and hoping to win the East after Bron leaves but that still isn't that great when you really look at it.

Now this, Durant going to GS to play with THREE superstars has just changed everything about the NBA. I used to like it and was really looking forward to some really good GS-OKC-SA-HOU-LAC matchups for a couple of years with a loaded Cleveland or Boston (year away?) waiting in the Finals. Now everybody will attempt to gather together at two or three spots. The good thing is that I am a Celtic fan and they are setting up to dominate the East for a decade. I barely watched this year except for a couple of Celtic games. KD really is the perfect 2017 sports hero, move to the team that beat you and we understand. The everybody gets a trophy crowd is ecstatic and he is in the Bay Area on top of that, it's the perfect storm.

If they talked which of course I'm still doubting, I bet Bron kept it pretty vague
My guess is if they talked, LeBron couldn't promise staying in Cleveland beyond his contract, which I have no problem with. I highly doubt anyone from the Cavs is telling him to not come to Cleveland unless his name is Kevin Love.

If that's the case then what is the point of this thread.

You're right. The bulls wouldn't have won that 1 game against GSW.
The bulls have a veteran backcourt and OPTIONS in the front court. They need to just forget about all their bullshite.

But in general, I think we undervalue that a lot of these guys are good friends. If LeBron truly sees CLE as a mess and also Butler as a good friend, I don't think it's stupid at all for him to tell Butler to do everything he can to stay away from CLE. He's just being a good friend at that point.
I mean, if you worked for a company you hated and were trying to find a new job, would you try to hire your friend on with that company you hate?

It doesn't change the fact they almost won.

So at 33yrs old (or whatever bron is) you actually believe he is willing to waste a season and not try to improve and tell butler to stay put?

I mean Gilbert isn't the brightest bulb in the box but he's done everything asked of him. Extend the guys Lebron wants? Check. Go into the luxury tax? Check. Let Lebron essentially run the team as GM? Check.
He's put his pride aside to let Lebron walk all over him again and getting flayed for it.

It is hard to take this discussion to far because theRE are so many assumptions being made from all angles. Maybe Lebron thinks it is a mess but still wants to fix it and isn't set on leaving. I doubt his mind is made up either way, although I can see him leaning for towards leaving at this point. I don't see them winning it next year but if they did add Butler and win, that definitely changes a lot IMO.

First off, I think that is a stretch to say Bron hates his "company". Hating your boss would be a better comparison.
To be clear as well, I was approaching the situation as Lebron telling him to stay away is stupid. I don't think Lebron being honest with him and warning him about potential issues is stupid (the most likely case IMO). But flat out telling him to stay away would be stupid IMO.
